I don't know exactly where they got their name from, but I used to love them as a kid - and they came 6 in a tube, back then. (you don't want to know how far back that is... )

So maybe they were called Sixlets because there were SIX in the tube ??

Yes I have..they still sell them at my mini mart.

Sixlets are a small, round candy-coated chocolate-flavored candy. The chocolate centers are made from a mixture of cocoa and carob, giving them a "malted" taste. They are sold in thin cellophane packages that hold them in a tube-like formation. The ball-shaped candies come in a number of colors, including red, brown, yellow, green, and orange. An Easter variation of the candy adds white, pink, and blue pieces while removing brown ones from the mix.

A package of SixletsSixlets will melt if kept in a pocket for extended periods of time. Some prefer a slightly melted sixlet. Different colors have a slightly different taste from one another, due to their candy coated shells. For example, the orange-colored ones taste like orange chocolate.

In 2003, Hershey Foods Corporation sold their rights to the Sixlets brand name to SweetWorks, Inc.¹

On the Sixlets package there is a web address (www.sixlets.com). This address does not exist on the web.

yes, I have heard of them. They are one of my favorites, though they are often hard to find. I think they make them in Canada, but not sure.

As far as how they got their name...

Q.
Dear 100 Hour Board,
Hershey's makes a very tasty chocolate candy (similar to M&Ms) called Sixlets. My question is this--why do they call it "Sixlets"? It only comes in 5 colors and there are more than 6 candies per cellophane wrapper
--Hershey Jr.

A.
Dear Hershey Jr.,
Sixlets got their name because they were originally sold six for a penny. They're now up to $60 for a 24 pound case.
--Chocoholic

I found this in a search. Hope this answers your question.

This is a very good poem, and this is why. It's hard to not be typical when it comes to poetry that rhymes. This works. Furthermore, it's by far the best I've read on yahoo answers. It's got a strong ending. Every word in poetry is important, and you took advantage of that. Every line in this poem wouldn't work without the other. A job well done.

I used to eat those when I was a kid in the 70's, I think the name comes from thre fact that they use to come 6 in a wrapper at a time.
