I would say that you have incorrectly detected your heart stopping.
Just a hand to the chest determines nothing. Sometimes the heart cannot be felt at all in its beats, yet it is perfectly fine.

30 sec would be a little to long. In the hospital we get excited over a 6 second pause. Some of those people get pacemakers or have medications stopped. If you feel somthing irregular have someone else take your pulse see your doctor they can set you up on a heart monitor that can check to see if you actually have a problem.

No I don't think that is normal. Mine does throw in an extra heartbeats now and then(sometime for a couple of days). They are called PVC's(premature ventricular contractions).
Go get checked by the doctor.

No, it's not normal and yes it has happened to me. You should see a doctor and get your heart tested for arythmia. I had it for a long time but then my doc sent me to a specialist who cured it with a simple non-invasive, srgical technique. It didn't hurt and took about an hour.
See your doc because it could get worse.
