You can see the list of top 10 for:
America's Best Vegetarian-Friendly Large Cities
America's Best Vegetarian-Friendly Small Cities
Canada's Best Vegetarian-Friendly Cities

I must admit I'm rather surprised a Texas city and Chicago Illinois made it to one of these lists (only shows my ignorance more than anything). I always used to be under the impression (correct or not) that Texas is not all that veg-friendly and Chicago also seemed like an unlikely candidate (I don't know maybe its because its in the mid-West?). I'm also a bit surprised that cities from Georgia made it to these lists because a distant relative of mine told me (he has been living in Alabama) and around that whole area (mississippi, alabama, georgia) its pretty tough to get veggie stuff. Maybe I/we were just misinformed?
Thought it might be interesting to read about these cities and what they offer. You can plan travels/moving that way too.

If Austin and Boulder are some of the best places to be veggie we're in more trouble that I ever thought! The only possible reason I can think they listed them is because of the large college crowd those two have. Houston and Denver aren't exactly friendly but they both have more (and better) options than those two.

These lists are scary and depressing!

When there is a reasonably large population and some influence of younger people (colleges) there tends to be more veg-friendly things going on. Austin, TX is a lot different than Texas, it has the University and the whole music scene going on there, so people are more in to different things.

I would think the south in general would be hard, but the colleges in Georgia help influence those areas.

Sometimes these things are in the oddest places. I ate at an excellent veggie place in Reno, NV, which is mostly a gambling place with not much else.

Austin actually is vegetarian friendly.

One city that should not be on the list is Madison, Wisconsin. We have zero vegetarian restaurants here. Though I am glad that PETA decided to plug my website =)

Honolulu is also very good, but the rest of Hawaii is terrible.

Chicago has a couple of exclusively vegan restaurants.

And Portland is definitely awesome. Since PETA made that list, 4 more vegetarian restaurants and 1 additional vegan one have opened. I'm moving there in a few months.

This information is previous. I first study it on Yahoo! returned in December 2006. (And sure, Manila is secure in the suited 5 maximum Searched holiday spot in Yahoo!, in spite of the undeniable fact that the justifications could be tremendously lots controversial.)
