I read a statistic somewhere that said the 1 in 3 black men are hiv positive. Is this true? It sounded a bit high to me

You probably read a statistic about what races HIV is most prevelent in. In the United States, about half of all HIV cases are in African Americans.

Statistics are only as good as the sample,and can be doctored to prove almost any point.
If the sample is 2 black men and both have aids,then 100% of black men have aids.
Now, if a hospital tested 100 black men in a month,and 5 tested positive, then. the figure is 5%.but only for that hospital.
Of all the hospitals in Baltimore tested10,000 men for aids in a year and 1000 came up positive, then the figure is 10%.

57% of statistics are made up on the spot.
Well, just kidding.
But if you surveyed every black man in certain places in Africa, this might be true. It's all about who and where they asked. If you walked into a HIV support group and took the survey, you could go around saying "3/3 black men I asked had HIV."
Overall, is this true? Probably not.

No this is not true. That would be millions of people. Maybe in Africa the HIV statistics are higher but I have an African friend and he says that it is not even that high there. They go to extreme and I mean extreme measures to prevent their children from getting it . Example once they are about 12 or 13 they take them to a morgue and show them all of the people who have died excruciating deaths for AIDS.

it all depend on the statistic and if the information is trust worthy
Yes black community was the last to get the information but they are like the other part of the world getting check and using protection
You should be careful with everyone you meet including black,white,spanish,asian etc you will never know who is who only if they get check and you see the paper for yourself never take anyone word

well possibly it is true because aids started in africa and this disease somehow jumped from an animal to people
