I recently had a sex change, and I am currently going through my period. All the parts that were made during surgery have healed; it’s just that girl thing that’s the problem. Now, I talked to my doctor, and he said that it will take a couple of months for the hormones to fully work, now my problem (or question) is: how do I tell my boyfriend err I mean “girlfriend” that we can’t have sex, because I am on my cycle… By the way, I can only use pads, because I am male now, and of course tampons won’t work… We have been waited for this almost fifteen months, and she is going to be devastated. It wouldn’t be that big of a deal, but it’s our anniversary and I promised her we could make love... Any suggestion on how to let her down easy???

Sorry, unable to take birth control because it interacts with the testosterone hormones.

You can't get a period - sex change or not.
The menstrual cycle is the series of changes a woman's body goes through to prepare for a possible pregnancy. About once a month, the uterus grows a new, thickened lining (endometrium) so that it is ready to receive a fertilized egg. When there is no fertilized egg to start a pregnancy, the uterus then sheds its lining.
Even if you have had a vagina made through sex reassignment surgery, doctors can't make a uterus and all the necessary parts to become pregnant and have a period. As a result of sex reassignment surgery, the person will have the external anatomical appearance and function typical of the new sex. People who have gone through sex reassignment surgery though, are unable to reproduce due to the lack of sex glands (testes or ovaries), except through prior sperm banking or embryonic freezing, which still require a receptive woman with a uterus to act as the surrogate mother.
Sorry, but you are totally making this up!

*blinks* erm any way you look at it a post op trassexual will not have a period.
Male to Female Transsexuals can not have a uterus built in, the penis is just changed into a vagina and the hormone pills will not cause menstrual bleeding.
Female to Male Transsexuals will have their uterus removed. Plus the high doses of hormones will at the least slow down the menstrual cycle if not totally stop it.
Honestly if you are not lieing then I am thinking you need to sue the heck out of the doctors.
However just this line makes me think you are full of crap: "my boyfriend err I mean “girlfriend”"

I don't know if this is for real but I'll tell you how I handle it. I just playfully tell my husband that "I'm broken" and and as a "special treat" he can have whatever he wants. Sometimes, he requests the shower. There's nothing "wrong" with sex on your cycle but some people get weirded out by it. My view is that it's only a problem if you make it a problem. Look at is as an opportunity to be creative. Best of luck!

I would just tell her. It would be more devestating if you were to act funny or avoid the subject all the while she would have no idea of what is going on. I am amazed...I would have just assumed that when a woman has a sex change they remove the uterus and ovaries. Interesting.

could you please add additional details on why you still have a uterus? I'm very interested. hope I dont offend you. I dont think you mate will take it that hard. You cant help it she has to understand. If you have a penis why cant you use that for sex even though you are on your period? Wont a condom help things?

Do you really think anyone is going to believe this? I am curious if anyone falls for this question and gives you a serious answer. What you are describing is physically impossible. LOL!
Maybe your signature should be "iknedattention"

yeah honesty, you know you got to tell her explain to her that you won't feel comfortable having sex and that you won't be able to focus on the two of you. so you would like to wait a little bit longer so that both of you can enjoy it and it won't hinder your experience together.
