This low reading was the reading taken when I was in the tropics of Puerto Rico.


I was somewhat thirsty but mainly had not eaten in along time . They took it manually at a drug store. They had free blood pressure reading done by professionals. So I would think this was correct. It was taken several times


So how bad is it for the lower number to be 40?

Have you checked your BP again? If it is still the same, visit your doctor and inform him that you have a low diastolic blood pressure.

id go to a pharmacy here in the US now that youre not hot and dehydrated or anything, and check it again one of those machines. if its still like that id make an appointment and have your doctor check it out as soon as you can

Check with your family doc. They can help you--they have the charts there regarding number explanation and know your medical history.

that sounds pretty good to me. everyone is different, so that could be normal for you. certainly nothing to worry about.
