Yes, genital warts can be easily spread to another person. Even if a person doesn't have genital warts it is still possible for them to spread the virus that causes them - HPV. HPV can be spread whether there are warts present or not.

Genital warts won't cause any health problems like sterility if not treated. Most people choose to treat them however because they are irritating.

There are several different options though to treating genital warts.

Aldara and Condylox are available with a prescription from your doctor. These creams can be applied at home and at your convenience. It can take several weeks and even months for these medications to work though.

If this medication doesn't work or you want to get rid of them sooner, you may want to have a doctor apply a stronger medication at the doctors office. This is done in several visits to the doctor and it is more painful.

And, if that still doesn't work, you can always have them removed by surgery (burning or freezing).

Good luck!

Yes, you can pass it on to your partner. That's how you got it. Go to the doctor right away.

The most contagious forms of genital warts are caused by the human pappillomavirus (HPV).

Any woman you infect can have an increased risk of developing cervical cancer. Cancer of your sexual organs is also a risk. A pregnant woman can pass the condition on to her baby.

There are treatments available. It won't go away by itself.

For additional information, check out the Mayo Clinic website @mayoclinic.com. Look under diseases and conditions.

Stop stressing and see your doctor. Good luck.
