You can help by packing him a lunch every day with nutritious food in it, so he wouldn't have to grab fast food to eat...
Get him to install a water cooler at work so he can drink that instead of soda and coffee. SKim or 1 % milk only...
He could eliminate some fats like butter, fried foods, margarine and start using olive oil as dressings and on vegetables when cooked.
He should reduce his salt to a minimum(only added to food when cooking) .
He can get many different types of medications from the doctor to help his with the high cholesterol. Some are better than others, he will probably have to take it the rest of his life.
Some people have inherited a tendency towards high cholesterol, I happen to be one of them. All of our family has to watch very carefully what we eat...
If he is diabetic he is probably under doctors care, have your mom make an appt for him to see the doc and get some medications that will not affect the diabetes...
He is probably on a restricted diet anyway, so he shouldn't have a problem adding a few more things to the no-no list.
But you definitely can help by providing him with a good lunch, you should go on the internet and find out what he can and can't have and you and your mom make sure he is getting good food to eat while he is working....

High cholesterol will continue to aggravate your Dads diabetes. His doctor should have given him some medication to help get his cholesterol under control. And busy schedule or not, your Dad is going to have to make adjustments in his eating habits, and his stress levels. Have him take a healthy lunch with healthy snacks to work with him. I too am diabetic and with just a few changes, my cholesterol is down and my diabetes is under control. Tell your Dad how much you love him and that you want him around for a long time. The changes required are not that difficult. There are all kinds of sugarless and fat free foods out there that are very tasty. Even chocolate. Good luck love.

I'm sorry but his health is more important than the stupid business. His cholesterol is way too high, and he can be in danger of a heart attack. He needs to be on top of his med's and have his 3 complete meals a day with snacks in between. Take care of your father, because you only can have one in your life time.

Diet is essential for a diabetic, if he does not control his diet eh will not control his diabetes. On line he can find reasonable diets to follow. As for the cholesterol eat less fatty foods, no red meat. take 1000mgs of fish oil pills three times daily, his cholesterol will come down and his diabetes will be easier to control.
Every diabetic needs to regulate their food intake and do as their doctor tells them. Not all diabetics understand the severity of their disease.

And get this - it has nothing to do with insulin, exercise, diet or anything else you've heard in the past. It's all based on latest breakthrough research that Big Pharma is going Stir Crazy to hide from you.

well trust me i have been going thru the same thing so i can truly understand where hes coming from, mine was in the 400s and its down to 300 something and is being controlled with medicine and diet. but usually they will tell you to stay away from cram foods like whole milk cheese and pork products like bacon and sausage, or any animal fats, and bakery products.they say not to eat hamburger but to rather get lean ground round sometimes it will come like 90 something lean and they recommend to broil it. they say if you like these types of food you have can have them once or twice a month and thats liver, shrimp and crabmeat. and they also recommend to use margarine and corn oil to cook with and i will say i use olive oil. i got this list from my grams and some of it the doctor told her. if your father isnt on medication then he can watch what he eats before he will be put on it. and just make sure that he keeps up with his appts to have them checked periodoically so he doesnt risk having a heart attack or stroke or ne thing. now does your father take ne supplements? sometimes not sure about his phyisican will also recommend taking fish oil tablets. they help. and also oatmeal and turkey legs are good for getting it to come down. hope that this info helps and best of luck.....

Ask him to take Red Yeast Rice, an effective, natural cholesterol lowering substance. Most of the body's supply of cholesterol is produced in the liver and controlled by the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which is responsible for the synthesis of cholesterol. Red yeast rice regulates the activity of HMG-CoA reductase to maintain normal cholesterol levels. Known as hong qu in Chinese, Red yeast rice has been used in China since 800 A.D. for maintaining a healthy heart and circulatory system.
