What is all the hype about being a vegetarian or a vegan? PETA is only trying to open the public's eye about what they are putting into their mouth. Stop attacking and start being informed.

I am vegan, for health and for noncruelity to animals, BUT I am sick of people who meet me for the first time and, when in conversation I say I am vegan, they say I am a radical Peta supporter. I don't preach to anyone, I just follow my beliefs in a low key, day to day way, and then get attacked for someone Else's more over the top (I do agree on many things) excessive, aggressive ways. Sometimes less is more, and people take offense to being subjected to people who try to do good, doing it in a too confronting manner.

Well, being informed means that you are also informed about PETA, inside and out. I support several of their campaigns (their Meet Your Meat video was what turned me vegetarian a while back, actually), but some of their actions have been unbelievably extreme (a PETA-based organization's spokesperson sincerely suggested that scientists who test on lab rats be murdered, no joke).

I respect your choice if you associate yourself with PETA, but I suggest that you do some research first and be absolutely sure of what you're choosing to support.

They get the most attention for the bad things they do.They are the biggest animal rights group because of their publicity stunts(or maybe because they were the first animal rigths group).I support their cause, but alot of people say they make animal rights activists look crazy,I think for alot of people it is a love/hate relationship with PETA.I think alot of their campaigns are misunderstood, but yeah,in PETA state of the Union Undress some chick got naked, and I can't say that I support that. It's really only the extreme things that they do that people notice.

Because, they are simply "fighting fire with fire".
They are doing what all the meat and dairy etc. companies and conspiracies and monopolies are doing. Which is, cramming propaganda down everyone's throat in anyway they can to get their message across.

Come on people, use your brain for once... when I went to school, we had McDonald's hamburger day, we also had the Milk Run, we also had the nutritional food guide (produced by the meat and dairy council), adverts, commercials, influence on textbooks, medical journals, etc. No vegan options on the menu. They use their money and power to use ever single available angle to get people to buy their products. They are ruthless. They pay stores to keep dairy alternatives away from the milk areas. They donate money to political campaigns... the list goes on and on and they've been doing it for 100 years, so they are very good at it.

So, here comes PETA. They've decided not to be some bunch of pacifist hippies that do quiet sit ins, and try to spread the peace and love... because that doesn't work. Humane societies all over the world are begging for funding, but they cannot get noticed because they are too busy helping animals and have no time or money to spend on fighting the trillion dollar animal industry. So, PETA has taken up the fight and tried a different approach. It works. Everyone knows the name PETA. Just as everyone knows the name Greenpeace.

What turns people's heads? Crazy stunts. People acting like idiots. Nudity. Famous people. Colour noise action.

Animals are not just used for food, but clothing, glue, furniture, drugs, pills, vitamins, additives, research, ... well, the list goes on and on. Being vegan or vegetarian is just one aspect.

There are evil people all over the world making large sums of money doing evil things. So, when some people doing good come along and also becomes successful using similar tactics and basically reversing them on the evil people, the shi*t hits the fan as the big companies fight back directing negative propaganda toward PETA, Greenpeace, and the like.

PETA ought to rather have all animals lifeless than be in houses. in case you imagine about it, what percentage dogs die because they're out residing on the streets? they do exactly video clips and bypass to places that practice the WORST animal cruelty, including the "Meet your Meat" video. maximum farms are in assessment to that - nowhere close to. (maximum, no longer all.) yet as well, there became an editorial printed someplace, and they were funding what became to be seen as a Revolutionary Organization 17 November.

PETA isn't any better than those people who show up at your door uninvited then they proceed to tell you why your spiritual values aren't correct and that their way is the only way.
They should allow people to come to their own conclusions when someone wants to subscribe to their rhetoric they can wait to be called upon by the interested party.

Their methods overshadow their message and they leave a very negative impression which is counterprodutive to their cause.

I just don't like how extreme they are in their demonstrations, how extreme they are in their views, and how they shove those views down out throats. I mean that's just a little bit too extreme, I mean yeah if you don't believe in animal cruelty than so be it. But don't try to change everyone's views and perspectives about it, because your going to tick alot of people off.

I mean what is wrong with respecting other's beliefs and what not. People will be people, they will have different views than everyone else.

I don't like their image and their marketing. There are plenty of other organizations doing just as much for animal rights, and maybe more, whom I do support. I think you are the one who's uninformed.

they steal people's pets and euthanize them without regard.
about 95% of animals "rescued" by peta are killed before they even get to a shelter.

Because PETA uses tactics that are just down right crazy. They are on the lunatic fringe.

If you are going to eat, something has to die.

Period.
(Plant life is life too..)

It's called the food chain. It's very prevalent in nature. Humans happen to be at the top of this chain. We use animals for food and much much more. You wouldn't be here today if we didn't.
