The animals are already dead when you buy them in a supermarket, so is not eating them really going to change anything? I don't mean to offend anyone, and, in fact a vegetarian lifestyle can be more healthy in some ways, but if your only reason for not eating meat is a moral reason, then you need to seriously think about this. You don't kill the animal if you just eat it.

By the way, I'm the sort of person that you would probably think of as a monster. I love to hunt, and I've killed several deer, turkeys, and one black bear. It's fun, the meat is tasty, and atleast in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with it if you don't waste the meat and if you kill the animal humanely. In nature, animals kill other animals all the time, and human beings are, to some extent, animals, so it is just natural for humans to hunt and kill other animals.

You have to think in terms of supply-and-demand. Slaughterhouses respond directly to the demand of meat-eating consumers. It costs them money to keep and kill animals; they wouldn't be doing it if the masses didn't demand their meat. So, vegetarians/vegans like myself forgo animal meat and/or all byproducts to lessen the demand at least a smidgen. Kind of the same reason I vote -- my single opinion might not make a world of difference, but I still feel the responsibility to support what I believe.

In terms of hunting, I won't chastise you for it. I'd prefer that you were a veggie, but I understand that meat will always be a source of food, and I'd much, MUCH prefer someone's killing an animal instantly with a bullet than the deplorable (I mean, absolutely sadistic, pathetic, nauseating, no-excuse-for-it) conditions animals are kept in at slaughterhouses. Hunting is undesirable, but there are much larger issues at hand.

No I don't think that by not eating meat that animals will come back to life. But I do know that if I don't support the meat, dairy and egg industry that less animals will be bred, slaughtered and raised for food purposes.

Here is an example, you say that you hunt right?
Well lets pretend that you sell the meat from the animals you hunt, If people came to buy your meat (lets say I was one of them) you would have to keep meat in supply for your customers. The more customers you have then the more hunting you will have to do. Ok now If a few of your customers were to stop buying your meat (including myself) you wouldn't have to go hunting as much anymore.

The same thing happens but in a much larger scale when it comes to buying anything. So being a non supporter of the meat, dairy, egg industry does make a difference even if it is small. I am not gonna argue with you about the way you feel about killing and eating animals cause we have the freedom to choose what we believe, but I would suggest before you start preaching about what is natural and what is right or wrong that you learn more about the vegetarians point of view as you have a very one sided opinion. There are many good reasons to be vegetarian more than just for health, but for the environment, global warming even, animal rights, and even human rights. To learn more just google it up, it is very interesting.

I don't eat meat, and it's a personal choice. When I was a kid, I didn't like the thought of eating something's mother, or a little animal's baby. I just grew into the role, I guess. And it is working for me - I feel great, look great, am in good health, and being vegan is a fun topic of conversation. You hunt and eat what you kill - that's your choice. I don't condemn you for that. Actually, I like to hunt, too. Something about walking through the woods so early in the morning with a bunch of men is kinda hot. But very few guys let me join them now because I do make lots of nose...

And no, I don't think that my not eating meat will result in the resurrection of all the dead little animals.

human beings are intellegent animals. Animals that eat other animals have no choice, really. But humans have a choice, and when they choose to eat meat, they're just being ignorant. If you like to hunt, i'm not against it. The reason I became a vegetarian was because of what's happening to downed-cows, and I think choosing to eat meat from Slaughter houses that kill downed-cows is what's ignorant, not your hunting.

No, I think that by not eating meat they hope to reduce the demand for it and therefore reduce the amount of animals killed for food. Does this make sense to you?

I am not a vegetarian. I agree we are designed to eat meat. Raising and slaughtering your own animals is fine in my book as long as it is all done humanely. However if you look into mass production of meat and poultry I think you will find that it is not all humane and that some of the conditions the animals are kept and killed in are sickening and disgusting, and far from 'natural'.

Of course they won't come back to life but as fewer folks eat animals fewer will be raised in squalor only to be killed.

BTW; Ever heard of CWD (chronic wasting disease)? It appears that the prions that infect cows have also infected a lot of deer and other wildlife! If you do a little searching you'll even find that squirrels have a prion disease and eating infected squirrels has been proven to cause brain disease in humans! Keep that in mind (while you can) the next time you decide to go hunting for 'food'.

i think your mixing up personal choice with religious beliefs.
it's a personal choice not to eat meat. during Easter week, in some religions, you fast, and refrain from eating certain things. this is the religious part. and I'm sure that in other religions, you fast during other times.
i think that vegetarians don't eat meat because they think that it's inhuman to eat other living things.

i personally like meat, and unless it's a time to fast, won't eat it.
there are different kinds of vegetarians too. there's the kind that will not eat any products that come from animals. no butter, no milk, no cheese, nothing.

yes, absolutely! most vegetarians do think by not eating meat this will eventually bring the animal back to life (assuming none of the other bodily parts have been eaten--if they have all gone to waste, then we've got a brand new old animal back to life folks!

Please don't lump all vegetarians together. I know many vegetarians and most of them have different reasons for their dietary choices. I know of only one vegetarian who believes that the animals will come back to life if he does not eat animals, but he is in a mental institution.

Most of my friends are vegetarians for health reasons. Have you taken your cholesterol level lately?
