I just went for a walk and near the end of my walk I started to have heart pains. Felt like my heart was being squeezed about every three seconds. I went for a walk yesterday and I was fine. I was walking normally, strolling my daughter along.
I just had a baby a few months ago and haven't really done serious cardio since, but I have one on many walks and even done some kick boxing. I am only 20 years old. Is this Angina? Could I have CAD? It is 4:30pm so I am not going to go see a doctor right away. Any advice?!Experience?!?! Never felt anything like this before!

1)Having CAD at your age with your history is unlikely. Do you have any family history with premature CAD?

Do you have any shortness of breath? Are you experiencing excessive sweating? Are you feeling any pain in your left arm, jaw, neck? Are you pale? Do you have excessive bleeding?

If you are experiencing such symptoms i would recommend ER.

2)You could be experiencing an anxiety attack or simply you over stressed yourself after lack of exercises (stress full) after your pregnancy.

It could be angina even though you are only 20, You put a huge strain on your heart giving birth, therefore if anything is abnormal going on in your heart it could have triggered the pains. I have had angina for over two years now, I had a heart attack and have CAD, 70% blockage , I also had my aortic valve re-placed in June 2006, which caused severe angina. Any chest pain at all you should see your Dr. but especially after you just giving birth. It is not likely you have Coronary Artery Disease if you have never been a smoker or a drinker, but you could have other problems, so get checked. Chest pains are always a sign to seek help. I didn't go to a Dr. right away and i had a heart attack. So go to the Doctor even if it has only been once you had the pains.

No, I don't beleive that the symptoms that you were having is "a heart attack", founded in alrge part that your symptoms were not "reproducible" by the same activity. Reproducibility is one oof the primary criteria for differentiating cardiac pain from the many other causes of "chest pain"
As well, cardiac pain is not intermittent or pulsating: Typically, it is very oppressive and creshendos, or becomes worse.
Because yoy are a woman, there are some very important considerations here, however.
Women have a much higher death rate, from heart attacks, when they do occur.
Women do not present, at all, with the "text book" or classical symptoms of heart attacks.............I can not stress this enough.
Female, coronary ateries are vastly smaller than male arteries.
As women age, they are even less likely to have classical symptoms i.e.none whay so ever, hence they don't seek carefast enough.
That the stress of pregnancy and labor provides sufficient stress to cause symptoms in, otherwise, low grade or dormant problems .
That to diverge here is appropriate, in that pulmonary emboli(blood clots) to the lung can also cause chest pain: Are much more prevalent in women that have undergone surgery, injury, or stress, and carry a greater than 50 % mortality rate. If you you are using a hormonal meds or under hormonal influences, you are even at greater risk.
Consider keeping yourself well hydrated: Keep a journal of any symptoms that you are having: Avoid strenuouse activity until you see your doctor(You should)

Heart pain (angina) is the heart muscle reacting to the lack of oxygen when a blockage inhibits the blood flow to a specific area of the heart from its feeder vessels, called the "coronary arteries".This "squeezing" type discomfort is one of the primary symptoms of angina. I agree you seem to be very fit and healthy, congrats on your new baby, but keep in mind that heart disease is the #1 killer of women in this country, women of all ages. When your back to your MD for a check-up,or if this re-occurs after some activities, call and find out what's going on .This type of symptoms are not "normal" for a young woman your age.It will take some tests to sort this out. Take care. SW FNP

I also have had that pain in the heart before and recently yesterday while watching the game on tv. Since you were running it was probably you just getting used to it again maybe. In my case it probably was not runnig in a long time. So if we were joined at the hip then my not running and your running would probably even out and none of us would feel any pain. LOL (I think that means laugh out loud?)
Congradulations on your baby girl. My daughter is 1 month old and big brother (1 year and 9 months) is so jelous of her. So be carefull when you have the next one, just warning you.

Where as anything is possible, it is not probable that you are suffering from CAD. You are just to young for that unless it were related to a congenital defect.
How ever, any time you are having chest pains you should seek medical attention. It is just to risky for you and your baby if you take the advice of some yahoo on yahoo. So please see your Doctor as soon as possible or if the pain returns go to the E.R. Your Baby needs you to be there.

Since you're uninsured and this type of problem should never be ignored, try going to your local free clinic. Only a doctor will be able to tell you whether your chest pains are heart or anxiety related. You might find it difficult to find a physician willing to accept you without insurance...you'll probably have to pay upfront. Get this checked out at the free clinic as soon as possible. Good luck.

Sometimes after having a baby you blood vessels have to get back the way they use to be . When pregnant , you had an increased blood volume amount. This could be it or it could be stress.
If you are having shortness of breath, cold sweats and let arm pain along with this chest pain-please notify your dr. ASAP!!!
Good Luck!

If I were you I would be heading for an ER! One of the signs of heart attack is a squeezing sensation and being you say you have never experienced anything like it before, I would not let grass grow in under my feet getting to an ER!
