for last 10 days i am having pain in my 'left wrist'. first i thought it might be a sprain, but usually it would go away in 3-4 days, but this one hasn't gone in 10 days. i am not able to pinpoint where exactly the pain is, but it does pain when my wrist is in normal resting position. It pains if i try to twist it in different directions and angles. just wanted to know is this a possible heart attack symptom? my age is 32. if yes how do i confirm or reject this possibility

There should be a detail history of your symptoms e.g. your profession, H/O recent trauma etc.
However you might be suffering from Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the median nerve becomes pressed or squeezed at the wrist. As a result, the hand and wrist may experience:

* pain
* weakness
* numbness (may radiate up the arm)

The carpal tunnel receives its name from the 8 "carpal" bones in the wrist. The carpal "tunnel" is a narrow, rigid passageway of ligament and bones at the base of the hand that houses the median nerve and tendons. The median nerve runs down the forearm into the hand controlling sensations to the:

* thumb (palm side)
* fingers (not the little finger)
* hand muscles (impulses controlling finger/thumb movement).
BUT IF IN DOUBT GET YOURSELF RULED OUT FROM ANY CARDIAC PROBLEM.

Pain without a reason for having it such as giving that part a knock etc..could be symptoms of a circulation problem or blockage. Therefore could be heart related. I am 36 had a heart attack for a year up to it, I had pains in my back and my shoulders.

It was a burning sensation, I did the right thing went to the Doctor got a chest x ray was told all clear. The results of the blood tests, I was told My cholestrol was sky high but dont worry if its still this high in a year I will put you on tablets for it. Three weeks later woke up with a numb arm (right side) took a heart attack.

Bottom line get checked out by a doctor in hospital. If all is well great you put your mind at rest. if not you may prevent something before it happens.

Symptoms of a Heart Attack

The National Heart Attack Alert ProgramExternal Web Site Icon notes these major signs of a heart attack:
Chest pain or discomfort. Most heart attacks involve discomfort in the center or left side of the chest that lasts for more than a few minutes, or that goes away and comes back. The discomfort can feel like uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness, or pain.
Discomfort in other areas of the upper body. Can include pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw, or stomach.
Shortness of breath. Often comes along with chest discomfort. But it also can occur before chest discomfort.
Other symptoms. May include breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea, or light-headedness.

I doubt you are having a heart attack. You maybe just injured your wrist in your sleep or you may have circulation problems, but heart attack pain will be in your chest and will radiate to your left arm. You are fairly young to have a heart attack. Try some pain killers with anti inflammatory agents, like Ibuprofen or Aspirin. If your pain is still present in a week, I would suggest a visit to the doctor.

My friend if you think you are having a heart attack don't sit there and think about it call your damn doctor or go to ER. Even if it turns out you were just over reacting you might get some advice on how to stop the symptoms if god forbid you ever did have a heart attack

My dad just had a heart attack Thursday morning @ 2:30 a.m. His only symptoms were that his chest hurt & his left hand hurt. He had a 100% blockage in his right coronary artery. They put a stint in at 4 a.m. & he is pain free. He spent that night in MICU & late Friday was put in a regular room on the cardiac floor. He got to go home on Saturday morning. He will be 63 July 4th.My mother died of heart disease at the young age of 57. The heart is nothing to play with. I suggest that you go to the ER & let them run some tests. I heard that 900,000 people a year have heart attacks. Please don't wait until it is too late. Please....if my dad would have waited 30 minutes more he would have been dead.
