Tea tree oil is a home remedy for treating boils as it has antibacterial properties. A paste of turmeric and milk can be applied on the boil, so that it heals quickly. More info can be found at http://ailments.in/boil.html

You might have to try a different type of antibiotics. That said, I don't really know of a miracle cure to prevent them. It does help to use warm, moist, compresses to help "ripen" them. Also never squeeze them if you can help it. Get a doctor to excise or lance the boil. This will prevent the pus and living bacteria from spreading around to other parts, possibly creating a carbuncle. Other than that, there is an ointment similar to neosporin called "Boil Ease". It helps alot with the pain.

It Contains: Benzocaine (20%)

Inactive Ingredients: Anhydrous Lanolin, Camphor, Eucalyptus Oil, Menthol, Petrolatum, Thymol, Yellow Wax

In my case, I've had them off and on, and I think it might be cause by stress at work (retail mgt) and diet. I also usually take a bunch of Tylenol PM to get to sleep, so I think that causes my immune system to suffer as well. I actually get them more often than I get colds. So a healthy immune system counts the most.

Most boils last for 4-10 days.If it last longer then that and gets worse she may need different antibiotics.
Warm or hot compresses hasten draining and speed up healing time.
A magnesium sulphate paste stops the growth of bacteria and reduces boils by absorbing pus and also helping to dry them up. Never sqeeze a boil, as this can force the infection to go deeper into the body. If it becomes bigger then go back to the doctor he will probably lance the boil if its necessary.
