I'm looking for a free program that I can download to extract files from a compressed folder.

Hey there...

I would suggest a download of winrar. It is for free and you will be are able to work with Zip and RAR files.

All depends on what compressed format you are looking at but these are the two most used formats for windows.

WinRAR provides the full RAR and ZIP file support, can decompress CAB, GZIP, ACE and other archive formats.

My vote goes to WinRAR. I think it's the best.
I think WinZip can't extract rar files but WinRAR can extract zip files.

You can go get the 7-zip file manager. . . . It's totally free

Make sure you set up the settings to what files you want extracted.

Double on the compressed folder. it is going to open a sparkling explorer window. on the left you will see "Extract all documents" click that and persist with the wizard. this might extract the documents in a folder laid out in using you.
