I already have 14 injections of anti-rabies given since last December 13, 2003 till last April 5, 2007. My question is, with the injections I have, am I surely protected against the virus? How does anti-rabies vaccine works? In one lifetime, how many anti-rabies vaccine can a person tolerate? With the number of injections I had, is there a possibility for over dose? Are there any side effects? please answer my questions. thanks. God bless.

judging by the number of rabies injections you have been given, you have been really bitten or scratched by a rabid dog or any animal, with the injections you have hopefully you are protected, rabies can definitely be cured when detection is early and treatment is aggressive, clearly you have probably been bitten last November or December and have survived through April, you are most probably out of danger, ACTUALLY there can be 2 types of injections, rabies injection can be rabies synthetic or cultured antibodies that provide immediate counterattack against the rabies virus, meanwhile you may also be given rabies vaccines to promote or help your body produce your own antibodies, RABIES ANTIBODY SERUM INJECTIONS ARE GIVEN TOGETHER WITH THE VACCINES, antibodies are given until for a while your body already can make its own antibodies.

No, the rabies vaccine does not protect a person from getting rabies. If bitten/exposed to the virus, having been vaccinated ahead of time simply means that you will require fewer injections after being bitten/exposed.
Why are you getting so many vaccine shots?
