I'm currently using an Alpine SWE-1042, but it needs to be replaced. My amp, MTX Thunder 4202 (specs: http://www.epinions.com/614168_MTX_Audio_50W_x_2_Thunder_4202/display_~full_specs ) I don't know much about this sort of stuff (the current car audio setup I have I bought as a unit ), but as best as I can tell these are compatible and would suit my needs without breaking my wallet. Basically, I'm looking for something that costs no more than $100 as I just want a clean sound but doesn't necessarily have to have a lot of kick to it. 1) Rockford Fosgate P210D4 (http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/product_details.asp?cat_id=4&series_id=31&family_id=10&item_id=104323&locale=en_US&p_status )
2) Panasonic CJ-SW2503 (http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-CJ-SW2503-10-Inch-300-Watt-Subwoofer/dp/B000ENPXFK ) The latter has 1300 RMS, would this be compatible with my amp since it's only 750? What would be other options? THANKS!!

Errm I just read a little about distortion (BAD), even if the Panasonic would work, would this be a likely candidate for distortion since it calls for 650 RMS and my amp is only 250 RMS? In this case, providing the Rockford Fosgate is compatible (I still don't know if it is), it seems like it would be a better choice?

Where did you get the RMS information on the Panasonic subwoofer? I would be very skeptical about a sub in that price range really being able to handle 650 watts RMS, and it's interesting that Panasonic doesn't publish the RMS rating, even on their web site. In any case, you've been misinformed about distortion; you won't have an increased risk of damaging the sub or amp by using a lower power amp than the sub's RMS rating.

In any case, the best match for your amplifier would be a 4-ohm subwoofer. The Panasonic matches this spec, but the Rockford does not. The Rockford sub is a dual voice coil sub with 4-ohm voice coils; this means that it's made to be wired as a 2-ohm or a 8-ohm load, which would not be a good match for the amp. The same sub in the right impedance configuration would be the P210D2 http://www.cardomain.com/item/ROCP210D2 if you can find it, since both models are discontinued. This year's model would be the P2D210 http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/product_details.asp?cat_id=4&series_id=31&family_id=10&item_id=108276&locale=en_US&p_status=

manufacturers.. that easily relies upon on the way you want this to be..The question maximum individuals will ask is do you want SQ (sound high quality) or SPL (Sound rigidity factor) .. once you may answer that you'd be in a position to %. a speaker. MTX is sturdy stuff in case you purchase the right sub. also evaluate an amp.. and from my adventure.. stay faraway from shops LOL or maximum proper purchase kinda places... information superhighway is the position your gonna locate issues priced the most proper. in case you desire a keep purchase all of your kit and characteristic them deploy.. also evaluate having a field professionally equipped. in the adventure that your searching for a 10" sub.. get a field equipped to get the most out of it you probably can. it ought to pay for itself in case you question me.
