The ears uncropped will flop. You haven't taken the 'flop' out of the ears, but only shortened them and made them lighter so they can be trained to stand..Taping is essential, or they will continue to flop, only appearing more like the Flying Nun..

Taping/Posting the ears after they heal from being cropped is essential. Posting is essential so you train the cartilage to harden in an erect state, that way you don't have a cropped and flopped dobie. If you aren't going to tape/post the ears after cropping then don't crop. It's sad to see a dobie that went through the whole ear cropping procedure only to have an owner that didn't take the time to do the proper after care to get them to stand.

Yes it is essential and it needs to be done correctly. Without taping the ears will not stand or will not stand correctly.

Oh yes it is!!! Very very important if you want the ears to stand erect. This will need to be done for weeks. Changing the wrapping on a regular basis. Is this question about the other question you asked & posted the picture of the red Dobie or just a question in general? Just wondering because if it is regarding the red Dobie she is too old to have her ears stand.

Why on earth anyone would want to crop a dogs ears is beyond me. Would you want someone to cut your ears off just for a certain look? It's disgusting and cruel. just like declawing a cat. These animals were put on this earth to exist as they are...not to be modified without any choice. For a human being to do that to their pet and friend, is not very human at all.
