I respect Buddhism, however I am not a Buddist; I follow Christ.

I hope it doesn't require 11 years to answer the question. It is entirely possible to be Palestinian and not anti-semitic, this should not be hard to understand at all.

You should hear the report of Hedy Epstein, a Jewish escapee from the Holocaust who made four trips to Palestine. She was very much welcomed by Palestinians because she came seeking justice and peace. She was treated very badly by the Israelis for the same reason.

You might also ask this question of Adam Shapiro, a Jewish man who is married to a Palestinian woman named Huaida Arraf (second link below).

There is also a Jewish Israeli journalist by the name of Amira Hass who is loved by Palestinians because she reports the truth (third link below).

There is a problem in that some Zionists Jews went to Palestine and tried to get rid of most of the Palestinians who were living there, and some Palestinians have never met a Jew who wasn't involved in beating, shooting their children, destroying their homes or farms, or generally trying to get them to leave. But all in all, I think there many more examples than I can report of Jews being welcomed by Palestinians to even say that Palestinians are in general anti-semitic.

BTW, Palestinian is not a religion, most Palestinians are Muslims and some are Christians, a few are Samaritans, Druze, Jews and maybe some other sects. When people say "anti-semitic" they usually mean "anti-Jewish." Under the real definition, Palestinians are semitic.

Well the word "semitic" isn't a matter of religion. It's about ethnicity, which is not the same thing. All Arabs, Jews, and people of associated descent (phonecians, canaanites, etc) are "semitic". That means that pretty much everyone living in palestine is semitic.

Basically, they're asking you a trick question based on the general misconception that the term "anti-semitic" means "anti-jewish"- which simply is not true.

When it comes to religion, most semites are Muslims- not Jews.

I'm not sure it's so much a "trick" question as much as they don't want to say "Anti-Jewish" so they use "Anti-Semitic" instead. But then I guess it depends somewhat on the subject it's for.

I would ask the teacher straight out - do you mean "Jewish" or "Semitic"? They might even be impressed you know the difference!

I'd say what they're probably getting at is the "geographical" conflict over Gaza etc. But like I say, it kinda depends on the subject, so ask!

Good luck with it. :)
