Gall Bladder usually means she has gall stones. It is a common surgery now days don't even cut you now days. They just go in thru small holes and remove the whole gallbladder or they may just break the stones and retrieve them. No biggy!!! Your in & out in the same day I've had it done.
Spot on the kidney or in the kidney? There are Kidney stones as well as gall bladder stones. If that is what is is they will break them and let them pass on there own at home it could take from days to months to a year. Painful I here........ I myself have a kidney cyst. Didn't even know it was there till I was CT'd for something else. doc says millions of people walk around and never even know they have them It is nothing important I guess. I am 45 and it is scary when they keep finding things wrong!!!!

Laparoscopy is different from exploratory surgery. In laparoscopy, they will make a small incision in the tummy and they will insert a scope to look into the gallbladder of your mum. Less extensive than the Ex-lap surgery that u are thinking about. It sounds daunting but it is just a straight forward procedure. but, if they will be something wrong with the gallbladder they may do and ex-lap. Other than that, they can also remove the stone with the small incision under the scopes guidance. There is also a chance that a drain may be put in when they have done the procedure depending on what they have seen during the procedure.

Regarding the kidney, they may have seen a a lump or something like that during the scan. I am not too sure about that. But you need to confirm with your mom's doctor about what is going on. It is actually your mom's right to be aware of her condition and the treatment that is given to her.
