Baby kittens often die. Sad, but it happens, some are born with less chances to live, especially as you say since it was so small. If he had any disease, the mother cat gave it to him, so there is no reason to worry any more than before. If the mother cat is vaccinated and is fed of good cat food and no raw meat, and if she doesn't get in touch with other cats, she probably has no infectious disease. Anyway, even if she has an infectious disease (such as panleucopenia, cat leuchemia etc) these are cat diseases and humans don't catch them. Your children are safe. The only think that can harm your unborn baby is toxoplasma, which you can get only if yoy eat cat poo, which I am sure you don't, but anyway you must also wash your hands carefully and preferably wear gloves when you change the cat litter, and throw the cat poo away immediately (don't let it stand there until the bacteria incubate). But most importantly make sure the meat you eat is very well cooked, because 99.9% of the people who get toxoplasma get it from raw meat and not from cats, because as I explained your hygiene habits must be very bad to get it from the cat.

First question, is the cat eating solid dry kitten meals? If it was once a stray kitten it may not safely be wearned from the mum's milk and can have to be. It is excellent to head to the vet and ask concerning the age and to look if it is ailing- many vets don't cost a lot or something at all if it is a stray (notably a very young animal). If it eats strong kitten meals then you're pleasant and don't have got to go through the problem of bottle-feeding it substitute milk after which weaning it off your self. You don't need to use flea therapy on a kitten that young unless the vet offers you a unique sort. If you don't see any fleas or mites then i would not worry about it. Please take it to a vet although. You'll desire a litter field, two bowls (one for food and one for water), and a few cat toys. Additionally, if you want to bath it you can use a moderate cat shampoo from the shop however make certain you dry it ample given that it is extremely younger and could still have crisis controlling it's physique temperature. The mum is in general now not around anymore if you have not obvious her so i'd preserve the kitten inside to make sure it stays out of the avenue and what not.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your baby kitten.
People have a tendency to think that kittening is easy.. all you have to do is put a male with a female and the result is lovely bundles of fluff .. Sadly it doesn't happen that way.
There are of course the rewards from breeding cats but it can also be heart rendering..
Your cat has done relly well to have a litter of five live kittens..A cat is on heat for anything from a few days to about a week.. during that time she can have any number of different partners.. each and every time that she mates a egg is released and fertiles.. so there could be a weeks difference in gestation ages in one multiple birth. The biggest being conceived first the smallest( runt) last with a week less time in the womb.. Hence runts have less chance of survival because they just are not ready to be born.
The fact that he died so quickly after birth suggests birth defect.underdevelopment. or just an unfortunate accident..
Because the runt was half the size of the others could be he got pushed off the nipple by the other bigger stronger kittens.. Mum cat moves about quite a bit when the kittens are suckling, if the little one got underneath Mum with all the weight on him he may not have been able to get out .. Sometimes kittens can be suffocated or squat by accident.
Other causes could be cleft palate.. where the top of the mouth is not developed and the kitten although trying to suckle couldn't ..
If your cat is up to date with her vaccinations .. there shouldn't be any nasty diseases that the kittens could have died from..
When suckling the kittens will get there protection against diseases from the Mothers milk .. this protection begins to lessen at 6 weeks and by 8 weeks they should be injected to maintain the protection ..

Diseases do not normally pass from cat to human .. or human to cat .. But what I would watch for is worms and I would make sure that Mum and kittens worming is up to date .. Mum and kittens can be wormed using panacure liquid.. kittens should be wormed at two weeks .. five weeks and eight weeks..

If in doubt why not give your vet a call .. I am sure that he/she will be able to offer advise .. it might be worth it for piece of mind.
Good luck and congratulations..

That's a shame but lots of animals who have multiple births will often lose one or two from the litter. They are usually called the 'runts' and they simply do not thrive as well as the others. It's a natural selection thing and probably not because of disease, the other kittens will probably not be at risk and neither will your children or unborn baby.
Having more offspring in the wild increases the chances of survival...the survival of the fittest.

Sometimes kittens are born with a cleft palate. They have the appearance of feeding, but cannot get the suction needed to nurse. Also, sometimes if a kitten is very small it will not survive no matter what you do. It's hard to tell when they're so new. Sometimes they just die. As kittens get older, sometimes they just don't grow. This is called "failure to thrive" and I don't think anybody knows why this happens.

If you are concerned about diseases, the best thing you can do is contact your vet and he can give you the correct answers.

First question, is the cat ingesting good dry kitten nutrition? If it grow to be a stray kitten it would want to no longer accurate be wearned from the mummy's milk and could desire to be. it truly is ideal to bypass to the vet and ask about the age and to be certain even if it truly is ill- many vets do no longer fee a lot or something in any respect even if it truly is a stray (highly a very youthful animal). If it eats good kitten nutrition then you definitely are effective and do not ought to bypass with the help of the problem of bottle-feeding it alternative milk and then weaning it off your self. you do not desire to apply flea remedy on a kitten that youthful except the vet provides a particular form. in case you do not see any fleas or mites then i does no longer problem about it. Please take it to a vet in spite of the truth that. you'll desire a clutter container, 2 bowls (one for nutrition and one for water), and some cat toys. also, in case you want to bath it you should use a comfortable cat shampoo from the save yet make useful you dry it adequate because it truly is amazingly youthful and may nevertheless have problem controlling it truly is body temperature. the mummy received't be round anymore in case you've not seen her so i might want to save the kitten interior to make useful it continues to be out of the line and what no longer.

He was too small to survive. Vets usually want to see Momma and kittens 24 hours after birth to make sure all is going OK.
