There's an old saying - "Follow the money"....
Take a look at who gains by all of these wars. When you delve into that and really realize who profits, you've got the real reason why most wars start. Our war in Iraq is a perfect example. There has been so much organized looting going on over there over the past five or six years that it's mind boggling.... Like the billions of dollars in cash on pallets that was supposed to go to help rebuild the country, and it just up and disappeared - it's sad that we don't have a news media that's into investigative reporting - all they are is cheerleaders for the govt.
Anyway, like I said, just follow the money trail. International arms merchants and munitions makers would be out of business, and people's fortunes would be threatened if all war stopped.....

The first thing you need to do is define "nothing". Many millions of people think the war in Iraq is over nothing while many million more believe it is a war between ideals. Some think it is a waste of time and some, obviously, feel it is worth fighting.
The second thing you need to realize is that the United Nations is powerless to do anything. The UN doesn't even have the power to collect membership dues from its member nations! The UN needs to investigate and eliminate the culture of corruption that exists within its ranks before it is to ever be taken seriously. It has very deep rooted prejudices that need to be worked out before it can even hope to act as arbitor of the world's problems.
Third is the fact that there have been less than 100 days of total peace - meaning there was NO war anywhere in the world - since the death of Christ.
Banning war is not only unrealistic, it is impossible to keep. Eventually, some dictator will rise up and enslave millions because there is no way to fight back. It will then be necessary to wage war and probably involve dozens of nations.
Have a GREAT Army day!! Huah!!
EDIT: Hey phatom - I don't know where you get your news from, but it is time to find another source. First of all, we do not ship "pallets of cash" to Iraq. Everything today is done electronically - epecially transactions consisting of billions of dollars. Secondly, if billions were shipped over on pallets, you make it seem like it just sits in a warehouse just waiting for anyone to pull a simple B&E.
You need to argue FACTS - not the crap you heard on the latest liberal blog. Stop being such a sheep and look up information for yourself. Use several sources. Use liberal sources, use conservative sources. In the Internet age, you can talk to people directly in the area being affected.
Silly, silly sheep ...

Honey, you better wake up, this isn't fantasy land. First of all the U.N. is a JOKE! WE already been there, done that. Do you actually believe we can reason with people who want to kill us? You need to wake up & smell the coffee, theres a war going on whether we like it or not & its a bout all our survival. This is not a perfect world, I'd love to have peace but thats not gonna happen, at least not until Jesus comes back to rule. The devil, whether you believe or not, has control over this earth at this time, thats why we never have had peace on earth, yet.

WOW! Are you that stupid? When you can guarantee me, which you can't, that everyone would play by the same rules, then I might tend to agree with you. The problem with liberals is that they think the terrorists think the same way they do. WRONG!!!! How old are you? Have you ever been screwed over before? Ever brought a knife to a gunfight and questioned whether or not bringing the knive was a good decision? I love the utopia theories from liberals, and being a realist this makes me laugh.

As a former sailor and soldier, NO ONE GOES TO WAR OVER NOTHING.
Thank you for taking this to the U.N. I am tired of seeing every one blame Bush and Blair for the Iraqi war.
I would also like to ask you if we should forgive rapists and bank robbers, they are only doing what they know. If a person should take from the innocent, do we not have an obligation to protect them? This goes for the person that lives next door to you and to the people who live in the middle east.
When you have a group of thugs that do not listen to common sense but threaten you, do you pay them off or stop them using the laws available to us?
I hate fighting never mind war. I also believe we have an obligation to our brothers.
After Cain Killed Able, he asked God:
AM I MY BROTHERS KEEPER?
The rest of the bible tries to get us to answer that question.
I believe we are.

I doubt in case you will discover any precise figures. you will have issues in that funds are relative to the inflation value and that a u . s .'s capacity to fund a conflict are based upon its gross kinfolk product - - which ameliorations each and every 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. i assume it may additionally be valid to ask what could have been the fees to the country if america of a did no longer pick to bypass to conflict?

Like the quote says "To have peace, You need War" or the other quote that "The only road to true peace is through war". Its not something anyone wants, but it is a necessary evil.
