In the Bible, it states that Man IS a soul. Also, Animals ARE souls. They don't HAVE them. The immortal soul means everalasting life after ressurection. When you die, God said it best, Ashes to ashes Dust to Dust dude.

There is no reason that suggests animals or plants have souls why?because when God created life on earth it followed a discernable pattern, the lowest form being vegetation and next to this animal life,God made these for the service and use of Man,finally He made us with and we are the highest form of intelligence on earth.
It is only natural that anyone with a much loved pet would like to believe that it has a soul and lives on somewhere after death, but this is just sentimentality and by the use of reason it really does not constitute reality.
