Nowhere does Scripture explicitly state that animals do not have souls...There is nothing in Scripture I know of that would preclude the possibility of animals' continued existence...The Bible does give us some reason to hope that departed animals will be restored. We read in the Bible that redemption is a cosmic matter. The whole creation is destined to be redeemed through the work of Christ (Romans 8:21), and we see the images of what heaven will be like; beautiful passages of Scripture tell us about the lion and lamb and other animals being at peace with one another.(Isaiah 11:6-8). Whenever heaven is described, though it may be in highly imaginative language, it is a place where animals seem to be present. Whether these are animals newly created for the new heavens and the new earth, or they are the redeemed souls of our pets that have perished, we can't know for sure.

Spirit and soul are two very different things. Our spirit is the breath of life that is in us. Our soul is our body. Humans were made differently from the animals, although a lot of people could be associated as one.
You can look up the meaning for soul and Spirit. The reading is interesting.

The Catholic Church has never defined a doctrine on the souls of animals. Thomas Aquinas said all life is a soul but only humans have an immortal soul. However, the Catholic Church has never said Thomas Aquinas was infallible. I knew a priest said apparently Aquinas never had a dog or pet of any kind.
The Bible does not mention anything about the souls of animals. The Bible is salvation history and it is about man's fall from grace and man's redemption. There would be no need for the Bible to mention anything about the souls of animals.

the Bible did not state anywhere as far as i know that animals have soul/spirit like humans. However, life was given to this animals by God, and upon their death i do not know if they have spirits that will leave the body. if they do, they were not granted salvation unlike we human beings and they dont have the seal or right to ascend to heaven. so conclusively i believe this animals dont have spirit / soul. upon their death, life will leave them and all that left is the body to be rotten away.
However in heaven, i will seek the truth about this from God Himself.

I know every rock and tree and creature has a life, has a spirit, and a name--have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon?

In essence, everything is soul/spirit...of course, these are just words...The energy that forms and informs all there is, is one. This "One" is unlimited, perfect, multitudinous; its vitality stretches into itself, and in all "directions"...yet there is no space; and it is eternal, yet there is no time.
There are no divisions. Nothing is lost, or absorbed...

Each living being is a symbol of something greater. I can't prove that to you here.
You can reject or accept that idea depending on your own state of being.
