No, i don't believe in God. I'm an atheist, because there is no reason to believe in God. He cannot be seen, cannot be heard, cannot be felt, cannot be smelled, cannot be tasted, isn't that kinda like he doesn't exist at all? But, supposedly, he's everywhere? If he's everywhere and he's so powerful, how come he doesn't make the world a better place? The leading cause of death among children in third world countries is diarrhea. Those kids dehydrate themselves to death because they do not have access to sanitary food and water. Why doesn't god help them? Do you really think that instead, he's here helping us through our lives? NO. he doesn't exist.

No and Yes
What if our universe is just a cell part of another much bigger living thing, just like how we are made up of cells.
another way of thinking about it would be to think about this much bigger living thing as our god, doing our part to keep this much bigger living thing living, just as the different parts of the cells we're made up of have different jobs to keep our bodies going.
But then again the concept of a god as we think of him/her is alot more comforting. I try not to follow one religion, there so many to choose from, whos to say which one is correct, plus man kind is easily corruptible for there own profits, so u don't know when things could have been made up along a religions history.
Also man kind could of easily made up some religious aspects for the better of man kind such as putting fear into a peoples mind for doing something bad such as stealing.
So this isn't really a answer to your question, but just some thoughts that come up in my mind when i think of your question.

When you say god do you assume that there is only one? When you say "particular religion" is that just religions that believe in one god or the preconceived notion of god that you have?
No man can know the nature of God. - agnostic

YES I believe in God.
My father is a Hindu and my mom a Roman Catholic.
I was raised like every other Roman Catholic kid - Family prayer (excluding dad), Sunday Mass (including dad), memorising prayers, Holy Communion ... etc etc
Enroute, I read the Ramayan and the Mahabharat - saw them on TV too ...
Lived (Still living) alongside Muslims.
ALL my best friends were / are - Brahmins.
I am a Roman Catholic, by faith and choice.
I RESPECT the faith of every other person and I make no claims as to 'My God' is the Best! If He wanted to win a popularity contest, I think this whole world would have been destroyed long long ago. The variety in faith actually adds spice - if you were to think about it! :-)
I DO NOT have to give a rhyme or reason for believing in whom I believe - those who do not share my belief will always find something unsettling and those who do share my belief do not need my reason to strengthen their faith. My faith, if it were to depend on the faith of somebody else - it is not mine but somebody else's!
Faith after all is - Believing in something you cannot see and the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.

I like to believe in God as God is like a father, guard, guide, adviser, master of all, all in one to me. I follow the religion called 'Vishwa Paramaatmaa Parivaar Dharma' (The world of God's family, the aim) because it is collectively human beings aim to form one family of God, a harmless world for ever.

i follow Christianity i am a roman catholic
i believe because i have faith and i feel protected that way.
whenever i feel bad, sad, lonely or unloved. i look up and just the thought of someone looking down on you, someone caring for you unconditionally lifts you up.
only if u believe you can forgive and forget so start believing no matter which religion you choose.

Yes I do...but not in the Christian sense. I used to, but read the Bible for myself and even though I retained the belief in a Creator...I feel that it is something far more powerful and mysterious than man can make sense of and write into stories and myths.

Please read my words carefully:
If you see footmark in the sand, you'll say that someone passed from here...
If you see a piece of dog sh*t on the ground, you'll say that a dog passed from here...
So what about the enormous universe, the sky, stars, planets, earth and all the beauty in it, doesn't it lead to that someone made it?!!!
Some people say that everything is created by itself after the big-bang... I won't ask you about what caused the big-bang, but I'll ask you a simple question:
If you take all the letters of the alphabet, multiples of them, and you threw them randomly on the floor. Do you expect (by a chance of one in infinity) to get a poem like shakespear's??!!
Can't you see how organized our universe is, the planets, the eco-system on earth, look even in your own body... Can you control your heart-beat? Can you control your breath while you're sleeping? Who stopped your eye-lashes from growing after reaching a certain length? Who told the baby turtles to move towards the sea and not to the earth after they come out of their eggs? Who taught the bird how to make nests?
My friend, think with your heart and brain. If you're still lost, think about the following:
Do you know how to play safe?
Non-believer's case:
If there's no God and you do all what you want in life, then nothing will happen to you after life. But if there was God and you were mistaken, then you'll blame yourself FOREVER...
Believer's case:
If there's God and I followed His commands in life, then I'll be in Heaven after life FOREVER. But if there was no God and we're mistaken, then nothing bad will happen to us after life...
Now you know how to play-safe, in case you're not convinced?
