"Point of living if there is no god?" - It sure beats the alternative.

Just make sure that by "God" you don't mean the eye at the centre of herd behaviour - that quiet spot where everything is still, peaceful and people tell strange tales of having been there in a shaman's dream. Honestly, mythology is the same whether it's Christian, atheist or anything else. It is of ineffable import. It is a public liturgy. In fact, unless people around this board are actually pushing forward real human concerns like agriculture, child support, comfort for the oppressed, understanding between men and women etc., you're all just participating in herd behaviour, despite all your differing protestations and belief systems. Whether you call it God, work, the boss, the big boss, Big Brother, peace/love/harmony, Satan, the big daddy-o, whatever, it's just the ineffable import of mythology that you're talking about. It's the same as hypnosis.
During hypnosis, the left hemisphere of your brain experiences differing blood flow (higher, I think, and lower after hypnosis). This is why right arm catalepsy occurs during hypnosis. The left hemisphere is also postulated to contain logic. Language can continue, but it will likely be slogans that are deemed to be socially acceptable for the situation (see Robert Baker's assessment of hypnosis via social mechanisms).
Hence, you are worshipping yourself by denying your own reality. You are trying to portion off your left hemisphere, perhaps develop your creative side into the bargain (you're not - you will end up devoting your resources to defending yourself against people who can out-talk you) and then keep that unsaid bit as sacred. Maybe you've witnessed a crime and found out how much corruption there is in society and convinced yourself that forgetting about it is the only option. It's not.
Habakkuk 2:2 says: "Then the LORD replied:
"Write down the revelation
and make it plain on tablets
so that a herald may run with it."
This is how hypnosis works. If you don't regularly report how you have strengthened yourself after run-ins with corruption, then you are worshiping your own victimhood. Singing at church doesn't cut it. Hollywood stars are adopting babies left, right and centre instead of offering to help the parents out. They have so much clout; they can do whatever they want. They don't need to ask for permission from the parents. Hasn't anybody heard of changeling legends? They don't come from nowhere. Why is the mother of Angelina Jolie's latest adoptive child being criticised in the press? It's not right.

Every human being is born with a conscious, which helps them know right from wrong, and yes, sometimes even living by one's conscious is not enough, sometimes we have to hold onto the hands of a higher power, because life just gets too hard, and that is ok, because even though we think we are alone, we never really are, and the unfoldings of life take place in our favor, and that is what God is. We unconsciously are living for God by just living, and He is helping us even when we don't believe in him, and we eventually see that no matter what we do, our life is blossoming into a beautiful flower. We are all flowers in bloom.

The point of living is to live, and enrich the lives of others. If you are only seeking the approval of your father, you are forgetting your brothers. Sure, if there is a god, he's important. But he made us so that we would live together in communities to make each others lives better. If there's no god, that fact doesn't change.

I think about that all the time. And I still don't have the answer. Life is a very interesting subject, I can talk about it all day. But instead of solving all the little mysteries in life, I just try to have fun in it, and make the best of it.

You can't help living in this body, till the time you die with this body.
On your death you will again get a new body, but not necessarily a human body. And so the cycle of life and death will continue for eternity.
You are not born in human form just to die one day and achieve nothing. You are born, to strive to achieve your target and be happy for all the future times.

I can se the point of living if there was no God, and I am a Christian. But I do not see any reason for a set moral guide without him. Survival of the fittest and natural selection both say to weed out the weak and infirm.

The point of living is life. It doesn't need explaining. To have to believe in a fantasy to have a point of living is nonsense.

Whats with you people and your slave mentality? The point of life is what ever you make it. Please yourself and your loved ones, they are the real things in the world not some invisible sky daddy that says he loves you and has a special place to put you if you don't suck up to him.

The point in living is the same for all creatures...........survival of the species.
Being a parent is the greatest joy I could imagine.
When you love your kids, there is a better chance of that gene pool surviving and procreating.
It's the result of evolution.
