Now don't get paranoid, back in the early 1980's we went through this with Dr. Khan and Pakistan, and they ASSured us that they only wanted peaceful nuclear power for electricity, they had NO desire to build a bomb. Right now there is some question of who has control in that country, believed to have around 30 nukes. Also not only Russia is involved in Iran's nuke program, France actually has a 10% stake, and China supplied them with the warhead designs that someone left on a disc in a brown paper bag behind the copier at Los Alamos, but Wen Ho Lee denied it was him. Never mind his line of research had nothing to do with weapons and they caught him with multiple warhead designs, just an honest mistake, could happen to anyone.... the missiles Iran and Syria have are already armed with WMDs anyways. Makes it hard for anyone to say Europe doesn't need an anti-missile defense system, although Russia is, (because it interferes with their ability to bully Europe). Can't you tell by Ahminejhads beady little eyes and generous release of the hostages that he's a nice man? Pelosi will have to invite him to speak in Congress next (right now she has the Muslim Brotherhood invited).

Vampire 13r has it exactly right.

Bad memories..?
Bad memories on both sides.

Operation Ajax, the British suggested and American executed coup, is enough but it wasn't an isolated incident.
In WW1 and WW2 "vital interests" had run rough-shod all over Persia/Iran, and left it's oil exploited for the benefit of the British.

What on earth reason have we ever given them, that they should trust us?
So very possibly they are trying for a nuclear weapon. Having been trodden on more than once, I think they want to take up the very American motto: "Don' t tread on me."

That should be real easy to figure out. those people are terriosts. if they start making nuclear wheapons they will try to hold the world as hostage. the only way to deal with those kinds of people is to completely wipe them off this earth. they will NOT stop, they have been fighting and killing each other for over a thousand years. I said after 9/11 that bush was going to get the United States into another vietnam. A war we cant win. they have an unlimited supply of explosives and people who are ready to deploy them in sucide bombings. if iran is allowed to produce nuclear wheapons its just a matter of time untill one goes off in this country.

They have bad memories of a CIA sponsored Coup that gave them 30 years of Dictatorship under the Shah
Then they have the memories of over a million dead from the US supported invasion by Sadaam Hussien.
Wonder why they would feel threatened.

they want to protect themselves, who doesn't want the biggest and best stuff? as far as generals and military leaders go, excluding pacifists.

I think they understand that they will be destroyed should they use it. But many feel they need it as an umbrella against US aggression. The US can invade or just nuke them and they have no defence. But if they have a nuke too you can't nuke or bully them around and it levels the playing field. You can't just make demands now, you have to respect our govt not try to threaten and intimidate as you' have been doing.

This is war and peace.

It doesn't look to me like they are planing on using it for peaceful purposes. They may be planning on using it for peaceful purposes. It would still be a source of plutonium or highly refined U235. It will dramatically increases the chance that nuclear weapons will end up in the hands of people who the US, and most sane people, would call terrorists.

Who know's what they are up to. For all we know the President of Iran could be working for the CIA.

I think Bush is pretty much stuck on setting off a nuke. Probably at night time somewhere on the east coast. He will come up with a Bin Laden confession tape. Then blame Iran for harboring him for the last 5 years. All the key people will be flown out of Iran, and then Bush will nail the country with 4 or 5 heavy nukes. Maybe as early as this August.

This is my theory.....and I hope I'm wrong.
