I really don't feel like answering a question that contains misspelling.

Sometimes people are writing in a language that they are not yet fluent in.
Sometimes people think they are 'cool' if they misspell things (leet) so they do it intentionally.
Sometimes people think it doesn't matter.
Sometimes people think they are in too much of a hurry to use correct spelling and grammar.
Sometimes people just figure "everyone else is doing it"
Sometimes people view this Q&A forum as colloquial / informal and focus more on their idea than on correct spelling.

If I can understand the message with reasonable effort, I'll answer it if I have an answer. But if the question is written so poorly I can't understand it for all the bad spelling, I'll just skip it. Communicating the ideas is the primary activity here; spelling and grammar are secondary here. But using the best writing skills you can is an act of courtesy to the people you are writing to.

As long as I can figure out what the person means, it is Ok by me to make a few mistakes. Here are a some comments on your subject:
Spell check has not always been working when I went to use it. And if the spelling is way off the mark, even spell check won't help.
People from other cultures and countries, where English is not the primary language, have a little trouble spelling in English. I understand, I'm a native, English is my primary language, and I have trouble spelling in English!
Some people misspell on purpose, to attract attention, make a point, be cute, or to just blend in with the rest of us common people here.
It is Ok with the rest of us if you do not wish to answer questions with misspellings in them. I hope you do not miss anything that might be important to you, by doing so. Or short the asker of one opinion.
Hey everyone, type in misspellings, and hit the spell check button! there are 3 ways to spell misspell! and I made one word out of spellcheck, that is wrong! It's two! LOL.

If you check the bottom of this page, you'll see that there are 20 different country flags indicated, and in most of those countries, English is not an official language. "Check Spelling" can't work for you if you don't know the correct word to use.

Do you honestly think that you could do better in a language not your own? Time to grow up.

While I am not a fan of shortin werds or usin numb3rs, the point is to get the idea across and if it can do that, then who cares about 1 or 2 errors. THis isn't about proving yourself to someone. ONe can step it up and say, why dont people use proper grammer while posting questions?

I agree with you!

It is often difficult to tell if they mean
"Michael Jackson is a rapper"
or
"Michael Jackson is a raper"

Another question I saw recently:
"A woman's beast fell out of her swim top"
-- did he mean:
"A woman's breast fell out of her swim top" ?

....I think the overall quality would be enhanced if folks ran a spell check and then proof read their post in the preview window before posting it.

Be cool if people got points for pointing out poor spelling or grammar.

Anyway, great point!

Don't bother to answer, better don't even read a question unless you run a spell check
