It's a long story (see my 360 blog) but I cooked a racoon earlier this week and tried to eat it. It tasted like the inside of Rosie O'Donnells shoe so I tossed it out. Now I'm wondering if I could get rabies from eating it? Why oh why do I have troubles like this in my life?

OK, I'm just guessing it tasted like her shoe -- it's was the most repulsive metaphor I could think of...

This might literally be the MOST redneck thing I have EVER heard, and that is saying a lot. Pardon me now, I'm watching Nascar in my pickup truck while beating my wife for letting our 6 year old get drunk. Anybody got a can of Bud?

No you will not get rabies since you cooked the flesh. Racoon is edible as is Opossium too.

Gee, brings back lines from the Beverly Hillbillies show. and old early 60s sitcom. Granny cooked some interesting menues: hog joules, crawdads, turnip greens etc, (all edible).

Coon isn't bad if it's prepared right. But it usually takes a lot of preparing. If you cooked it well, you can't get rabies from it. It's usually recommended that you cook wild game well (including venison) because of the risk of rabies. Then you don't have to worry about it. Bear meat should also be cooked well because of trichinosis.

At some point, yes, you will die.

Did IT have rabies?

You have these troubles because you have too much time on your hands(note; you actually THOUGHT about what the inside of rosie's shoe might taste like.)

lol

as long as you cooked the raccoon until the meat thermometer registered 160 degrees, you should be safe. Safer than eating Rosie's shoes, anyway ....

Jeez, what a pathetic attempt at humor. FYI, city slicker, 'coon is a perfectly acceptable meat. People like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Jeff Davis ate 'em regularly.

For one if you didn't remove the musk glands you were lucky you threw it out.You will not die from eating the coon.I really do not find it funny about the shoe .How many coons you killed? Do you live where they eat what they kill? How many shoes have you chewed?Well thanks for the 2.

I doubt it but I think it may not be a bad idea to ask a healthcare professional.
