If you have an original XP CD, just put it in and it will start installation automatically (if not, click "Install" or "Set up.")
At some point it will ask you if you want to uninstall existing Windows. If you want to do so, click "Yes" or "OK."
If you are reinstalling on the same computer where XP was installed before from this disk and you have not made any changes to hardware, you'll have no problems. If you made changes (installed more memory, changed a video card, etc.) then XP "thinks" that you are trying to install it on another computer, and Microsoft doesn't want you to use the same disk for several computers. You'll have to call Microsoft and tell them it's the same computer with some hardware changes. If they believe you, they'll tell you what to do.

I assume you have your original insatallation disk(s) if so put that in your disk drive. A screen will come up with choices to chose from. Install new copy, repair existing copy and others. Choose the install new copy and another screen will appear and ask if you want to: reformat disk drive without saving existing files or reformat and save existing files. Whichever you choose a message will appear and inform you of the location it is going. This is because it is possiable to partition the drive for more than one copy windows (partionA and partionB and partionC). However this is not always advisable as windows when installed writes a sub partion that contain files for the operating system and if changed in any way may result in the system not operating correctly. So unless you know what you are doing it is best not to add extra partitions.. From there your software does the rest. one side note; If you do decide to partition your drive at completion you will get a registration notice asking you to register with MS,no big deal except it is an extra step added and only takes a few minutes. If you choose not to register it may let you run your system for 30 or even 45 days before registering and then lock you out until you do register. That will take a phone call to MS so have their 1-800 number handy.

Hi, first make sure you have nothing valuable in your Windows drive (most probably C:). Then while your windows installation CD is in your drive, restart your computer. Push "Delete" key and the bios settings will apear. Go to boot section and make sure your CD-ROM drive is prior to other boot devices in the list. (Your mainboard manufacturer may have provided you with a key that which if you press and hold automattically shows you a fast boot menu. If so then you don't need to enter mainboard setup by presing "Delete") After setting the boot options restart the computer. This time you will see a message that reads: Press any key to load from CD-ROM ... then press any key. After this step all you need is to wait and know a little English. Choose installing a fresh copy of windows and delete your current windows partition, then remake it. After that, continue easy setup procedures. BYE

I understand, you that you are using previous version of windows, and now you wanted to Install windows xp? If that is the case, if you have windows xp cd, all that, you need to do this insert the cd in your cd drive and reboot the computer and follow the instruction in the screen. XP would ask you whether to format the harddisk, say has, your harddisk would be formated. When asked always select NTFS files, system, in my opinion that is the best way to Install XP.

This process will delete all of your other installed program by you.
Usually we get Windows(Xp)pre-installed or in the Recovery CD/DVD when we buy computer. The purpose of a recovery CD/DVD is to back up when help is needed.
If you have your important Data/Email/Address/Favorite and ready to Run Recovery Cd/DVD then insert and run.
It will help.
First make back up of important items OK?
