My father is an ******, abusive alkie, whom I loathe, but my Mother gave me (almost) unconditional love. What if I'd been born in the forties or fifties?

Expect that it would of been pretty much the same. The sexual roles that society has dectated to us is starting to come into a crisis now. And you were born right around when that got start'd. See there was a very big reason why society set up the family roles to be that way. Namly it was the only way to keep the society together based on the outside view of how the world works. Back then sexuality, emotions, and diverse understanding of ethic groups, and people, were not something that was talk about, It was "simple" times, then comes the korean war, vietinam, women's rights, etc. etc. and that darn free love bs, thats stunt americans sexual development even more then not talking about it did.... ether way things have became dynamic and you got a taste of how things were actual like in the 40s and 50, except that your path would of been more predetermined then it was in the 60's/70's. Really ignorances was bliss. Now we've got more knowledge then are socety has saftly allow'd us to understand. This times are worse because just a little bit of intellegence is worse then complete ignorance. Just as the fact that free love was a very, very stupid thing to bring to bare, that women asking for equal rights neglect'd to actual understand what it would mean to have equal rights in a world were we need mothers and fathers, not people out for there own accomplishments. That with the drive to do what the self wants, we forgot what the self really needs which is family. That free love should of had nothing to do with sex, and everything to do with people reaching out for each other. But as you look around now were dealing, horriably, with the fact that american families, since the good old west days, has been slowly but surly rip apart. Look around were more connect'd then ever, yet at the same time more distant... So it was that mother's love.... things have been going down hill for quite awhile now...
