You can check with the Clerk Of The Court and The Clerk OF The District Court's offices in both the county where he works and the county where the officer lives. The offfices of the Clerks will have computers where you can look up cases by name of the accused. Simply type in the officer's name and see what happens.

If it is Officer Smith, Officer Williams, or some other common name you might have thousands of cases to sort through. Just remember that criminal background checks are required for most applicants to any police department.

Also, just because a case is on record as being filed against the police officer, that is no proof of criminal misconduct. You have to examine the court records of the case and see what the verdict was.

You generally couldn't.

Only if the background is available to the general public through access to local court records or via a web site where you pay for the opportunity to look at such things (then you would have to know some personal info like full name and birthday). In my state you have no right to access state criminal history information, and certainly no right to see the officer's personnel file and background information.

MOST officers are not going to have ANY criminal background. Those few that do are going to generally have older minor offenses for misdemeanors that do not involve domestic violence or a crime of moral turpitude. By and large, most agencies do not hire even convicted misdemeanants.

You might try asking the police dept. the officer works for . Ask them, in a polite manner, if they would provide you with such information.
