I have had asthma issue's all my life but i have attacks maybe 2 or 3 times a year. and its usually after i drink beer, I exercise daily and i am able to run multiple miles with no issues, i have not had an attack in almost a year. my over the counter inhaler, is so old it's out dated, that's how often i use it. i have not seen a doctor for my asthma since elementary school, i am 26 yrs old. my question is do you think i will have any issues during BCT. i personally feel very confident about my ability to complete training with no issues. just looking for opinons on the matter?

Based solely on the information you have provided the odds of completing BCT without incident are in your favor. However, if you should require your inhaler and the Army isn't aware of the problem....you will be stand tall before the man,

Good luck

I hope you're ok too because the one thing I saw in boot camp all the time was all the west coast kids, ie CA, WA, AZ, NV, OR, NM....you get the picture, all the states without humidity got to IL in the middle of summer where the humidity was in the 90's+ and as soon as the PT kicked in they were dropping like flies with asthma attacks. I don't know where you are from nor do I know where you are going to boot camp, but I can tell you if you fall into this kind of category you may run into problems. Humidity brings out asthma even in people that haven't had issues with it recently. If this is going to be a similar situation for you be careful and mindful when you do get to where you are going and start the non-stop PT and drills.

Were you up front with the recruiter about this? If not you should have been, they allow inhalers in BCT so that you don't have asthma attacks. But based on what you said, it sounds like you'll be fine anyway, assuming you can handle the pressure.

im going in the usmc tommorow and i have asthma, what did i do... i didnt tell them at MEPS. i knew i could run like crazy and it didnt bother me. it was a label and it WILL NOT keep me from doing ur dream and it shouldnt stop you either. if u say it at MEPS they will open records and all sorts of stuff, just say no for asthma. my recruiter had disks in his back and never told them at MEPS, so relax ur fine as long as u can execercise and dont feel the affects, ur fine goodluck!
