Everybody get acne, some obviously more then others. It is caused by bacteria, but can be exacerbated by hoormonal changes that cause the skin to oil more. Wash thoroughly with a face wash (not just any bar soap). Use warm water (as warm as you can get it) to open up the pores and wash with a face wash for acne (Neutrogena is a good one) and rinse completely. Follow with peroxide on a cotton ball or square(yes, the kind of peroxide they sell over the counter in a pharmacy) and follow up with a face toner that contains salicylic acid (2%). I like Biore. It medicates without overdrying and leaves all the good oils in place. The peroxide cleans out the bacteria from the pores faster than anything. You may find that you only want to do this every so often as it can dry out your skin. But, always follow up the washing with a toner. You can treat the acne after with an over the counter acne medication (there are all sorts). Next, you might consider actually using an antibacterial medication like Neosporin, especially on any open wounds. Go through face washing and toner in the morning and in the evening.
You might consider a good steaming once a week. Boil some filtered water (distilled works great). After it comes to a boil, sit at your kitchen table and throw a towel over your head and let the steam get in there and open everything up. It also great for the sinuses. You might think of going to your local natural health food market / store and see if they have anything they could recommend to put in the water for the steam that will treat the acne. But you have to be careful on this point. You can also use a scrub (once in a while - don't overdue it) to exfoliate and a mask (I'm sorry but stay away from Noxema - it feels great but I don't think it helps, in fact I think it clogs up the pores and doesn't rinse off enough). If you don't want to buy a scrub, simply using refined sugar, salt or cooked oatmeal will do the job.
And don't touch your face. If you are at work or school, you are touching lead and erasers (and all sorts of nasty things that I won't go into) that love to just dig their way into tender skin pores such as those on your face.
Sun- it can help, but don't overdue it. A slight coloring (only the kind you would notice only after a few weeks) is enough. Use a sunscreen with at least 15 spf - even on rainy days. Too much sun - and well that's an entirely different topic.
Exercise - great idea! It helps. It moves toxins out of your system and if you bring out a sweat, it moves them out even faster. But take a shower afterward. Don't just let the toxins sit in on your skin. Plus, it is great for so many other things.
Foods - stay away from eating too much sugar and modified oils. (Hydrogenated oils are harder for your body to get rid of and love to hybernate. For example - twinkies don't just go to our hips, they love our skin too). Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits. Eat lots of fiber. And drink tons of water. Take your weight in pounds and divide by two. Take that number and you have the MINIMUM of how many ounces of water you should drink per day. Yes - per day. For example, if you are say 145 pounds, divide by two gives you approximately 73ounces of water per day. You will be in the bathroom a lot, but all of these items rid your body of toxins that love to stay in your cells - and your skin (being the largest organ on your body) shows it first. Rid the toxins = rid the acne.
Through all of this, you may find that in ridding yourself of toxins through the washing and scrubbing and eating your fiber and vegetables, that the acne gets worse at first. This could happen as your body is trying to get rid of all those yuckies that were in there in the first place. Stick with the program. It works. I promise. In a few weeks, you should find improvement.
If you have scars from acne, there are processes (I'm sorry but I have to go there) that can help. I know that some dermatologists actually offer laser treatments. A laser treatment actually removes tissue by burning it off to smooth out the skin. You might also consider an over the counter scar medication. It can cost $20 and upwards sometimes.
Good luck!

I don't know how old you are, but just being a female, hormones could very well be a part of the problem.
In some cases, using the birth control pill to maintain a steady hormone level helps significantly.
Also, do NOT over wash your face. Once in the morning and evening is enough unless you are exercising or engaging in sports.
In addition, proper rest, diet and hydration can also dramatically improve your skin.
I also highly recommend using a skin care line that is suited for your individual needs. Try using the same line of products for at least two or three weeks so that your skin has enough time to adjust to the products.
Good Luck!

Wash face with a really good product. If tried almost everything try a more expensive brand. Well this is what I use. http://cgarcia1.qbeautyzone.com/products/product.aspx?itemno=E5018 Keeps face 100% oil free for up to 12 hours. Oil is why we breakout. When pores are large oil get out to the surface attracting dirt, makeup buildup and clogs the pores. If we don't clean, tone and moisturize pimples are created. You need a really good product that is best for oily skin. Cleansing washes away dirt, makeup buildup, and other debris that clogs pores. Toning closes your pores so oil don't get out to the surface. Oil stays in. Moisturizing protects your face from the sun and because of the cleansing that washed away oil and toning closes your pores so oil don't get out, Moisturizing hydrates your skin and puts it back in shape. I also use this http://cgarcia1.qbeautyzone.com/products/product.aspx?itemno=EE0176
right when I see a little one about to come out I apply this on the spot and then by the next day it's gone. Keep your skin blemish free! Treat, heal, and manage breakouts with Blemish Control Acne Treatment Gel. The salicylic acid helps control blemishes, while the Nutrilite-approved ginseng provides clarifying properties, and the chamomile soothes skin.

Use a skincare regime specifically for oily/blemished skin. I personally like the Body shop's tea tree line. Be sure to cleanse, tone and moisturize everyday. Scrub and mask once or twice a week. If you can, get a facial every 4-6 weeks and be sure to drink plenty of water before and after the facial so your body can get rid of blemish causing toxins.
Don't use oil based makeup and try not to use pore-clogging makeup. Mineral makeup works well for this.

An excellent remedy for pimples or acne-prone skin can be made by mixing 1 teaspoon ground cloves with 2 tablespoons fullers earth and ice water. When you wash your face, use sugar to scrub it, at least once a day, for two weeks to rid yourself of acne. Check out http://useinfo-acne.blogspot.com/ for more useful info.

wash your face with a product specifically for your problem skin. use a toner that is not too harsh to the skin. Meaning don't use a toner that has a high alcohol concentration which then makes your face dry and as a result, your skin begins to make more oil to counteract the problem. Also use a product with benzoyl like clearisil. If all fails see a dermatologist who can then prescribed you retin a or use proactive it works for me.

Try using a skincare product like Neutrogena Rapid Clear, it is a salicylic acid acne treatment. Its fast-acting invisible gel quickly clears breakouts. This clear gel works quickly by penetrating deep inside the pore to unblock trapped dirt and oil. It is oil-free, non-comedogenic and dermatologist tested.
