This is true!!! Give it a shot...Your hair will thank you, lol!! I switch shampoos every time I need to buy some (whenever I run out)...I never used to do this and my hair is healthier than ever. I rotate between 3 or 4 different kinds. John Frieda's Brilliant Brunette Shine Release and Pantene's Ice Shine are two of my favorites. Good luck :D

Yup it is true! In simple terms, what happens is once you've used a product for more than a month, your hair kinda 'gets used' to it, if you know what i mean. So for example, if you use a shampoo that makes hair shine, then after a month or so the effects will start wearing out cos your hair already has a build-up of the product....(hope that makes sense!)

Not all shampoos will work. It will take a while to figure out which ones are best for your hair. Then when you find 2 brands that are best suited for your hair, use one for 3 or 4 months then switch to the other, and so on. Products I recommend are Pert, Pantene and Sunsilk. They're not too fancy (nor expensive) but they're not crappy either lol. You can also ask for samples of the different brands, either at a pharmacy or directly from the company itself. That way you won't have to spend so much and you'll be able to try out many different brands.

So yea, switch product brands say, every 2 or 3 months, or 4 months if you can't afford to fork out too much on your hair lol. Also, make sure you don't use too much conditioner and not too often either, cos they actually dry out the hair. So be careful. Not everything does what they say they do.

I find with my hair that if I use the same shampoo all the time, it doesn't work as well. My hair gets "used to" the shampoo and doesn't get as clean.
I switch shampoo brands usually every 1 to 2 months. (Usually going back and forth between Suave and VO5). I find that this works well for me.

I've heard about the "product build up" before - keep an eye on the ingredients labels of your shampoo and conditioner. If there are a lot of extra ingredients, that will cause build up. Compare three or four different shampoo brands and see how the ingredients differ.

This is VERY true. If you use the same one for a long time then you DO get buildup from that product. If you like your shampoo or conditioner and don't want to switch, then buy a shampoo that removes build up (like Nexxus Aloe Rid Shampoo or Paul Mitchell Tea Tree or Shampoo 3) & just use it once maybe every 2 weeks or so. That will prevent your normal shampoo from building up.

Yes! it is a proven fact that it is good for your hair to switch shampoos every so often..

hair my be dead but the roots are not... and need to be cared for... take split ends for example.. they can make your hair look like crap.... over styling and constant blow drying an too much brushing can really damage your hair bad..... Split ends are the WORST

This is true!! Try it, and you will see what I mean. Your hair will absorb the new product, and it will behave like never before! Especially if you are switching up brands.

as a nursing student, its not bad to switch shampoo/conditioner.it is case to case basis,if you have problem in your hair, its better to consult to a doctor before you switch your shampoo/conditioner.
while if you have no problem in your hair their is no wrong or problem to change your shampoo.
maybe your hair will become more beautiful if you use other brands of shampoo/conditioner.

Nothing will happen if you switch hair products....even if you do it every day!! Seriously....hair is dead.....I bet if you compair lables it's the EXACT same ingredients in EVERY bottle....so not kidding about this. You can do w/e you want w/ your hair and it will be totally ok :)

Doesn't have any affect on me. I use a different product almost every night, depending how dry/oily/curly/straight I have my hair now or need my hair tomorrow. I have pretty normal hair, though.
