Right now, my church is nothing more than a gathering of family and friends. We're a noisy bunch, a lot of fun and food. We sing and talk about God and things, read some scriptures and really enjoy the day/days. I connect with Our Creator in a very quiet, private way. I encourage everyone to do this and then get together to worship and praise in Joyous Spirit.

Like they are dead. Everyone os oo worried about how they sound or being too loud or heaven forbid they might get noticed or someone will mock them or they are out of key or they are embarrassed to sing praises or it isn't proper to be happy in church ... and so on. Children know how it is done.. They sing cuz they like to and because they haven't learned the inhibitions that adults and teens have.
I recently returned from Haiti and was so happy and filled with joy to hear people (poor as they are) SING, and SING loudly and and with great Joy! What a great escape and the freedom they showed. Mock me :-) I don't care anymore. I found it moving and uplifting. I have a short video I'll post a link to in a few ...
peace

*edit* here's the only one I could find on short notice :-)

It is a short clip inside the church in the village we were in on a mission trip in Mar 07, you have to download it and save to play. It is AVI but should play in WinMedia Player or Divx Player for sure.

They make a joyful noise...
I swear, not a single person in my church can carry a tune, but they sing their little hearts out anyway.
It's kinda nice...

They sing joyously and the audience joins in.
PS, I go to Catholic Church on Sundays and My church is jampacked and people have to stand outside to hear mass but it's no biggie for them.

There's more life in the church graveyard. Maybe some of the worshippers are deaf and don't recognize music.
