Ask for Aviation Information Systems (6694). It is an Airwing job working with computers. Deployments are few and if you want to have a family you have the opportunity to stay in the same area for a long while bc for example there maybe 3 units in one local area for you. If you want to travel there is that possibility too. It is also a great job to transfer into civilian life and because of the few deployments you will find it easier to attend college classes as well. Any MOS you pick in the Marine Corps or any branch of the service is commendable. Good luck and thank you for your potential service to our country.

Although it might not seem thayou are getting a lot of money, young soldiers will find themselves with lots of cash and will want to spend it. Set up a Roth IRA immediately and fill it up. Also save 3 to six months worth of money as a cushion when something goes wrong. Once you get out, you will have that much of a financial head start.
With the Roth IRA you can do this. $4,000 for 12 year starting at 18 with 12% compound interest is $7.1 million tax free at the age of 67. So basically you have retirement set up right there.
When you get out, get a part time job and use that education money. At around your early 30s you would be very far in the financial game with a degree, your retirement set, your financial cushion and some left over money.

The Marines are the most demanding, physically and mentally, of all the services. The discipline it takes to live the life of a marine will bend most people, break some, but if you have the will to do it, it will mold your entire life.
The Military life can be very rewarding. There are great educational opportunities.
Before you decide anything, see a Navy, Air Force and Army recruiter.

Don't do it. The saying for marines are first to go first to die. Consider a different career if possible. I come from a line of military men to include all of the branches except the coast guards.

Dont do it...go to college first then you can join as an officer. so many kids make the mistake of joining first to get money for college......but if you join you are definitly going to Iraq or Afganistan ...if you die, you aint going to college.
Go to 4 years of college..then go into the service as a liutenant ...then you wont get your a ss blown up to your earlobes by some roadside bomb...You can be the one to tell the guy who joined before college to kick the bomb.
