Sweetheart, you don't know Jesus personally yet, that is why you can say what you do. Allow time if you have just come to salvation, pray, read your Bible and continue to ask the Lord to help you with the things that you feel and don't understand, God is not cruel and all things are as they are, our world fell to sin and it is here and things are going to be that way, but our Lord is still forever and always in control, our job is to trust and have faith that He guides our path, and praise God we don't have to worry. You hang in there and talk with the Lord, He will help you to move forward in this situtation.

No, honesty is always good. If you look at all the bad stuff that happens, how much of that can you say is truly "an act of God?" Wasn't it a human that made it happen? Or wasn't it an act of nature?
If God didn't allow bad stuff to happen in the world, then I would have been wiped off the planet ages ago. For instance, I yell at my husband and children - that's bad. If God didn't allow me to do that, well, he must have destroyed me already. It is because of God's love that he allows bad stuff to happen - to give people a chance to repent and show him just how much they CAN love him.
Honesty is great. I can honestly say, I have only just started to love God again after a long struggle with selfishness. A great first step to developing love for God is to understand the ways that he really does bless you. He created this beautiful world for us. He gave as Jesus Christ because he loves us. He gave us life and bodies. I don't think anyone has given me more than that.... yet I still love and thank people who derserve my love and thanks a lot less than God deserves it.

You many honestly not love God, but He honestly loves you. Just keep that in mind. Sometimes physical "higher power" (or an authority..such as parents, elders, etc.) can seem cruel to us. It's hard to determine whether or not they love us by the things they do to and for us. It's almost like receiving a spanking from your parent, and you may hear them say, "I'm spanking you because I love you!" God may allow bad things to happen in the world, but its your job to trust Him and have faith and to not give into those bad things of the world. If bad things didn't happen in the world, then it would be so hard to learn a lifes lesson at times.

This is about the Problem of Evil.
On God and evil in the world, the philosopher Epicurus said this:
"Is God willing, but not able? Then he is impotent.
Is God able but not willing? Then he is wicked.
Is God both willing and able? Then whence cometh evil?
Is God neither willing nor able? Then why call him God?"
Believers who, with good intentions, try to rationalize all events as those being maximally good in the grand scheme of things (mysterious ways, etc.) employ a type of faulty reasoning called "Panglossianism." Dr. Pangloss was a character in a classic novel who tried to prove that our world was "the best possible of all worlds."
There is definitely a double standard in such people who see all events as the actions of an omni-benevolent God. God gets all the credit and none of the blame. When good things happen God's intentions are clear. When bad things happen suddenly his intentions are mysterious, and not for us to second guess because we are not omniscient. But if this were the case how can people claim to see God's mind with such clarity when good things happen?
Notice that with just as much validity I could propose the existence of an absolutely evil God instead of an absolutely good one. God's intentions are then clear when something bad happens. But when good things happen I attribute it to some greater evil Plan. In the end, Evil will prevail. The events of the world are just as compatible with omni-malevolence as they are with omni-benevolence, thus it's a more parsimonious proposal that the universe does not have a will or intentions.

Would you rather he made you a robot instead? If the answer to that is No, then that gives your question the answer it needs. God made man to have free will to make his own choices in his life. He could choose to follow God and God's rules or he could choose not to believe. The bad things that happen in this world are for the most part due to the poor choices someone has made. Not so much as an individual but as a world or society.

Basically in order to get to know someone, you must spend time with them. That's how we get to know the character of God. Just keep your faith and get into the Word and prayer and you'll get a better understanding of Him. God bless you for being so honest and may God help you focus on Him as the most important thing in your life. Put Him first and He will eventually answer all your questions. God bless you. By the way, love is not a feeling....it is a choice.

Dear Jessica,
Your question has been asked ad nauseum. Think outside of the box. Don't think in terms of power, but think in terms of your own good fortune. Do not try to ascribe a "higher power" to the events that happen to you. Go with the flow and marvel at the beauty of existence. Your thoughts on the subject will most likely outdistance those of somebody trying to control your behavior through a moral code of their own device. The universe is far more complex and mysterious than we can possibly imagine at the present time. Enjoy the ride is my best advice.

That's OK, because God loves you regardless of how you feel about him.
I've raised 4 children, and they would often tell me that they didn't love me. I would respond that I was glad, because it meant that I was doing my job right.
God is our Heavenly parent, and he is trying to teach us, just as our earthly parents are. He doesn't always allow us to do things that we want, because he knows that whatever it is is not good for us, just as our earthly parents do. Being a parent is not a popularity contest.
God doesn't "allow" bad things to happen. He has a rule of "noninterference". He has given us the freedom to make our own choices. Unfortunately, other people sometimes make bad choices that affect us. Sometimes our choices are not the best, either. God doesn't want us to make bad choices, but he knows that sometimes we have to learn by our mistakes. I'm sure that sometimes your parents let you learn the consequences of your actions.
I hope that this makes a little bit of sense to you. It's just what I believe.

You are right when you say allowing. Because He doesn't cause it. If man hadn't sinned, there wouldn't be todays problems. But all things can work to the good for those that love Jesus and are called to His purpose.
John 3:16 tells of His love for man. If He knew that out of the millions of people that have lived, are living, and that will live, that you would would be the only one that would accept Him... He would have died on the cross for you. (which He did)!
Seek God, He will draw near to you, and you will feel the love of His presence.

It's sad you blame God for the actions of man. It's hard to accept but God has given man authority on earth and that means He can not, precisely because He has to keep His word, interfere in the earth without permission. Many do not realize He wants to help so they do not reach out or do not recognize when God is trying to work in their lives. When you grasp this truth and really accept God's love and the tears He cries for man, you can open your heart for God to work with and through you consistently. As long as you blame Him, He can not.
