In order for the agreement to have any teeth, there needs to be an enforcement mechanism. Since it was established by the R&S community independent of Yahoo! Answers, I don't think abuse reports are the way to go. So what do you think? What actions, if any are appropriate?

Incidentally, for those who are wondering what the agreement was, it was that we agree not to initiate insults, put downs etc. of another's belief system. I signed it provisionally on condition that I remain free to disagree with and point out (with gentleness) what I perceive as error. It does NOT equate to showing reverence for someone else's God or lack thereof.

Hope this helps!

Teeth are unnecessary when honor is present.

What's wrong with namaste? It's a polite greeting meaning, "I bow to you"; and, it's the verbal equivalent of the physical bow. The bow is not the superior/inferior relationship sort of bow of obeisance, but a bow indicating respect. This has nothing to do with a "god," by the way, and everything to do with a traditional form of greeting in the culture which is the source of my religion. Do you have problems with civility? Or do you only spit in your palm and shake hands?

Since I never agreed to this idiotic agreement of yours, and never would:

namaste.

Well, this should only be discussed by people who signed on.

BTW, I don't think you really meant "enforce violation" of the agreement - but rather, apply consequences for the violation of the agreement.

Personally, I'm in favor of the honor system. It's really not up to any of us to worry about it when others don't keep their word, only when we do.

Unfortunately free speech regarding religious beliefs is hardly the grounds for everyone to respect another's God!!

It'll have to be an "on your honor" kind of thing.
