i would like for my hair to be more managable and softer.

A good conditioning treatment. Not a cheap one from discount stores but a good one from a professional salon. Ask your stylist to recommend one that is "right" for your hair. You should be able to purchase it from your stylist and use it at home (if the stylist does it, they will charge for their time).
