A fruit tree is judged by the fruit it produces and the shade that it provides. Good fruit and plenty of shade and it is called a wonderful tree. If the tree falls prey to disease, then it produces less fruit and provides less shade. When this happens some people will chastise the tree and call it a
poor and useless tree.
Over the years this beautiful country, the United States of America, has fallen prey to disease. This disease is caused
by anger, greed, hatred, hastiness, corruption, and arrogance. The good fruit and shade that this great nation
once provided has been declining for several years because of this disease. The elements causing this disease must be pulled up by the roots, like a gardener weeds his garden.
Our founding fathers would shake and tremble if they saw the degree of disease that this nation is suffering from!
The Judeo/Christian tradition known by the founding fathers
has been altered to such a degree, I'm afraid they would not even recognise it. Faith has been replaced by prejudice and is tearing this once great nation apart. All spiritual traditions
need to learn to live together or will perish by each other.
Let us all participate and provide the medication needed to
heel this great country. So that once again it will produce good fruit and provide shade, making it possible for our neighbours around the world to call, "The United States of America", a very wonderful tree.

If the US has ever been a Christian country, it has not been since 1797 when the Senate ratified the Treaty of Tripoli which included this clause:

"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

What makes people look at the world this way? Is it because its a simple enough idea of how the world works that you can comprehend it, regardless of any resemblance it bears to the truth? What is the logic here? I mean, Mexico's a Christian nation (by percentage) and so is Haiti. What do you have to say about them? If people actually thought about the simplistic and ridiculous statements that others make and they blindly follow, the world would be a better place.

wow, wow... where the heck did that come from? First, christianity has nothing to do with being 'great'. As a matter of fact, if you read up on your history, you'll know that this 'great' country we all claim the US to be was supposed to be founded on the principle of religious freedom which I feel is a load of bull. So, the country, US, might not be all pleasent but it's not because of a set religion, but many factors - especialy ignorance.

No, it's no longer great because it's run by a gang of tools manipulated by the multi-national corporations who don't give a rat's a** what happens as long as the money keeps rolling in.

I believe most of those guys are Christians, by the way.

No not because the US is not a Christian country. Just ask my friend about these sorts of questions. Frankly, there's nothing we use here that come from the US anymore, except Microsoft and movies and songs from the US. I mean your guys don't produce any good staff anymore!

Lol. No it is no longer great because you have a lunatic and his cronies running the show. Get rid of Bush and maybe in a hundred years you will be able to repair the image and damage he has done to your country in the eyes of the world community.

The USA is no longer great because it never has been. In terms of historical status the USA is a teenager; arrogant, rude, rebellious, imposing, full of angst and determined to get its own way. We are (the world) waiting desperatley for the USA to grow up.

Who says we are no longer great? I say we still are great. I'd rather live here than any other country in the world. you must be under the false delusion that America is or was perfect. Let me be the first to burst your delusion. America was never perfect, just better than the others.

Oh and in case you hadn't noticed a christian is in power currently so going by your logic, its the christians that are currently ruining it.

OH...i'm betting one religious loon will try and say the US was founded on christianity, this is a flat out lie. Some people need to learn history and not the revisionist history their religious handlers feed them.
