What does this verse mean: 'If I am for you, then who can be against you?'? And where in the Bible does it say that all good thoughts come from God? And that bad thoughts come from the devil?

Woo,

A more accurate version to the original would read: "If God is for you, then who can stand against you?"

Another with similar meaning, if that would help is.."Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world."

Basically, The Lord Jesus Christ (God) is Sovereign. He is in control. He is more powerful than any force. So truly, noone can stand against Him. So, IF you are following Him in all you do, as Paul the apostle, who wrote these, than you only need to focus on God. So--no worries.

on the thought---the devil deceives people and causes them to sin starting in the mind. So that is why it is so important what we read, see, etc. --what we allow to enter our minds. "the devil is the Accuser of the Brethren, that is one of his titles. So, not every thought that comes in our minds is pure. It depends what we do with that thought. Do we throw it down and pray, or do we let it fester? "..bringing every vain thought into captivity.."

"Jesus was tempted in every way that we are and yet without sin"

Be encouraged!

God bless you as you truly seek to follow Him,

If God is on my side, then who could harm me. It basically means, if you are a saved person, nothing can harm you, even if you have sad times in your life. You know that God is always with you.
Romans 8:28 says And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.

I couldn't find any vers that talks about good and bad thoughts. I'll research it some more.

To the previous answerer: Isaiah 45:7 says I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity, I the Lord, do all these things. (NKJV)
God has no opposite. Satan is not and has never been God’s opposite. There is one God. He is not the author of evil; evil is never “original,” but always a perversion of an existing good. Yet God is the allower of evil, and He uses it to accomplish His eternal purpose of bringing together all things in Jesus (Ephesians 3:8-11 and 1:9-10). If God could further His eternal purpose by allowing His Son to die a wicked, unjust death on a cross, then He knows how to use what He allows for His eternal purpose.

The actual verse says "If God is for me, than who can be against me.?" In james1:17 it says that every good gift if from God. In matt19:17 Jesus asked "why do you ask what is good, there is only One that is good"

God is good, and all good things come from God. God is Truth. The devil is not ofcourse, he is the evil one. he is "the father of lies"

Ideas to lie, steal, cheat, etc, are not of God, as He has said, "thou shalt not lie, etc, etc. But rather His ideas work in a person's conscience, to tell the truth, give it back, apolgize. Forgive.

I think both you thoughts come out of Romans 8:31 "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?" The other one does not say that but it is the closest verse I can think of to what you are asking. Romans 8:5 "For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, 7 because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so,"

When God is on your side no evil can hurt you. Basically God fights against evil with you as your side kick.
I don't remember the bad thoughts thing but it has been a while since I read the Bible.

For the first verse:

As long as you are with God (that is, believe in Him), fear nothing for God is with you.

I don't know where in the Bible you can find the second verse but I'm having a gut feeling that it is somewhere in the New Testament...

"Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? Shall there be EVIL in a city, and THE LORD HAS NOT DONE IT?" (Amos 3:6)
"That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, THAT THERE IS NONE BESIDE ME. I am the Lord, and there is none else. I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil. I THE LORD DO ALL OF THESE THINGS" (Isa. 45:6-7).
God creates evil! It cannot be! But here it is in the Word. What will you do with it, beloved?

It means: If the most powerful being in all the universe is on your side you do not need to worry. And I think the saying is all good things come from God. But I could be wrong.
