historical Buddhism 2500 yrs ago but there have been countless Buddhas before . the universe has arisen and collapsed countless times and to become a fully enlightened being (a Buddha) takes aeons of rebirth./ i quess its sort of like a cosmic groundhog day.

Well i don't know exactly when it started but Buddah lived from 563 BCE to 483 BCE so around that time. He was an Indian Prince who went searching for the road to enlightenment.
