RB it is the Gospels that state she has special status Judith and the other books you guys don't recognize are Old Testament Books that were used by the Jews during the time of Christ. The NT is the same for Catholics and Protestants

No, I think she is very important. God honored her above all creatures by making her the mother of His Son. In honoring Mary, we are following the example of God Himself. Mary's special privileges were given to her by God, not man.

God bless,
Stanbo

She is extremely important. If she had not agree to be the mother of Jesus, he might not have come into the world. Eve followed her own will. Mary followed the will of God. In so doing she helped to redeem the fallen world. Now I am not saying that she is a co-Redeemer with Christ. I do not follow that view, so don't misunderstand what I am saying. I am just saying that Mary has an important part in Salvation history. And she must have been a very good mother too. Look how her kid turned out.

She is very important. Protestants would do well to take into account the book of Esther and to see how Queen Esther intercedes for Mordecai and the chosen people. Also The Blessed Virgin Mary is the New Ark of the Covenant and as such she stands in the breach between this and the promised land just like the Ark of the Covenant was carried into the Jordan and remained until every last Israelite had crossed over into the promised land and it would also be advisable for those who say Joseph and Mary had relations and had children to remember what happened to the men that touched the Ark of the Covenant --- they died. Joseph knew this very well. He understood his role as a Eunuch in the King's court -- just like in the book of Esther.

No I believe she is. However Iam in the middle of the road on this issue because many protestants do not emphasize the role she plays as the Mother of Chritianity, the First Lady of Heaven. Yet I believe that Catholics way over emphasize her to the point where they worship her as a goddess.Iam against worship of Mary and why would there be a need to pray for when Jesus says" Come to me all ye that are heavy laden". There is not one example of any prayer to Mary in the scriptures. The vail in the temple was ripped from top to bottom when Jesus paid the price of our salvation on the cross giving us access to God by his atonement.

Your faith is getting pommeled David. Your continuous defense is admirable. Faithful. I am not Catholic. I have often watched a program called Food for Life. Father Bob Bedard and Roger something. Excellent messages and philosophies. I spend very little time thinking about Mary. That is consistent with non-Catholics I believe. It is not for me to question your personal practices or beliefs. Still sorting my own out. I disagree with much of the political structure of your church. I don't observe it's importance. It detracts from the focal point. I am fond of the way you defend your faith. You are intelligent enough to decide what is right. Peace.

Mary was a godly woman. The catholics believe she is all-important. I don't believe so. My focus is on Jesus the Christ-child who came as a man from Heaven, from a virgin so long ago, and would give His life for me, and rise again where He lives today. I'm sure God views Mary just as important as the rest of His children. Mary just happend to be at the right place at the right time.

Mary is very respected and revered. For Non-Denominational Christians she is respected as the Mother of Christ. Catholics worship her as they do other Saints (The Rosary, The Assumption of the Virgin Mary Celebration). And Orthodox Christians venerate her. They hold her in very high regards, but do not worship her like the Catholics do. She is very revered in Orthodoxy. Overall, she is a very important figure in Christianity, after all, she was "the Chosen" one to bring Christ into the world.

The Bible says she will be remembered as blessed among women. And she was obedient. Other than that, I don't consider her as extra special... as God is not a respecter of persons. Is it the book of Judith that states she was honored in Heaven? The Protestants don't use that book.

I don't know this for sure, but isn't Mary the mother of Jesus, not the mother of Christ? The Christ has no mother, but Jesus was in the flesh and had to have a mother to be born as a human.

Miriam, or Mary, as we call her, was obviously an important figure. She was chosen to be the mother of Christ. Certainly she was a mortal woman like any other, but she was obedient to God and chosen to bear His only begotten Son. She is certainly someone we should respect and hold up as an example of woman/motherhood.
