My mother issued this rule where I must study/do homework for two full hours. This really gets on my nerves, as I study plenty while I'm staying after school (I usually spend a full hour out of the three that I spend after school). So basically, this leaves me with very little time to relax and stuff (I come home sort of late from school).

I mangaged to slide away from the rule by using small excuses. But I don't think they're going to work for very long. Don't call me lazy or anything, but does anybody know a way to get rid of this annoyance once and for all?

I would explain to your mom (if you're getting straight A's) that you are getting perfect grades and you don't really need to study that much. Make her deal. If she gets rid of the rule and you continue making straight A's, throw away the rule UNLESS your grades go down, and then the rule will be reinforced.

I think it depends on what prompted the rule.
I think if your grades are up to speed and your teachers would write you a note saying your homework was in and grades good it would help. It depends on whether or not your mom and you can communicate and negotiate. You could ask her to back it off to one hour (or whatever it is that you want) for a certain amount of time. If you maintain your grades and your homework is in, then you keep the lesser time. If not, the two hours comes back. You will have to prove you do not need the rule in order to do well. See if you have any room to negotiate. Come up with a plan of your own and see if she will let you try it for a trial time period. That's all I can think of. It would work with me.

Do you have good grades? If you do, then maybe you can ask Mom to give you a break and reduce the time that you study. If you don't have good grades, then you should continue to do use the two hours wisely and study hard. When you get older and you have a good job that pays good money, you will be glad you studied hard when you were young. Make every moment count.

Your mom gave you that rule cause she cares about you and wants to see you do the best she knows you can do. Also parents give their kinds some rules to teach them about life in the adult world and to get you used to it. When your a adult there are many days where all you do is work and sleep and there are many times adults have to do things whether they like them or not. So appreciate the fact that you have a mom that cares enough for you to set rules to help you later in life when she won't be around to fall back on.

Maybe if you talk with your Mom she will accept the hour you study after school as one of your 2 hours a night -that is if your grades are good she might.

Make straight "A"s then she will think you don't need to study as much. I sure wish my parents had took an intrest in my education. Then I wouldnt be working like a dog for a few bucks above minimum wage and barely making a living.

Your mothers house = her rules.

When you are older, independent and earning your own living, the rules will change.
