Well, I've got the Vista Home Edition or whatever, and it runs fine, but that's not the point of the question. I suppose you could always go to your Aunt and ask for the online receipt she received in an e-mail, or the physical receipt if she bought it at BestBuy or something. I don't know what type of operating system you've got currently, but if you have anything tied into the Windows Operating System's family (that is younger than Vista), then I would suggest switching off to Windows Vista. All of the Windows Operating System's are very alike, and there shouldn't be a big change with moving up to the newest and most recent operating system. It's not like you can't revert back to XP or whatever you have if you feel like Vista is a rip-off. I mean, you got it for free, man. Free upgrade, how could you turn it away? Vista has problems, yeah, but they aren't obvious, and they certainly don't cause anything ridiculously bad like a hard drive failure or anything. The fact is, Vista is superior to it's previous operating systems, and it's far more reliable too. I shall end the bias now. My answer, you could probably return it, but the hassle to do so would be a far more extensive than it would be to just install it on your hard drive or to simply just leave it lying around until Windows Blarg comes out in 2015.

Either the full or upgrade version of Vista Ultimate will come with both a 32 bit and 64 bit disc.

That's what i don't like about Vista. You should get a Mac. Mac's are more secure and stable and you can just plug any device and you will start using it right away. no searching for drivers.
