I recommend the following books: "Intuitive Eating", "Overcoming Overeating," and "The Rules of Normal Eating". All three of these books take a "no diet" approach and instead teach you how to become aware of your eating patterns and also how to pay attention to the thoughts and behaviors you have around food. There are also groups on Yahoo that use these books specifically in their discussions. I find them very helpful, as I am in the process of letting go of the diet mentality and getting in touch with my true hunger. A diet - any diet - does not address the underlying emotional problems and issues with overeating, but these books help walk you through that process. Becoming a vegan or vegetarian or Adkins or South Beach or any of the other diet plans will work... temporarily, for the majority of people, because they don't address the heart issue behind overeating. They only treat the physical symptoms and offer a little bit of cognitive behavioral therapy, which is helpful to a certain extent (and something I try to practice) but still does not address the heart issue. And overeating is always about issues that we are not dealing with in our life. Good Luck!

There is really no such thing. The key is to find a diet best suited for you, one that you can stick with the rest of your life. If not, you will more than likely just regain the weight when you go "off" your diet. I've tried almost every diet there is but I found I haven't been able to stick with them for very long. I'm currently following the Weight Watchers diet and that is working out pretty good for me because there's is no food or drink off limits....and I love food and drink! Good Luck!
