I did it with tuna, it was excellent. I would stick with fish that you have tried on the sushi menu, or better yet ask the guys at your favorite sushi place. I am sure they can give you advice.

NO!

You can't always see parasites and you will never see eggs. In Japan, it is commonly known that you should NEVER eat fresh water fish law under any circumstances.

Even salt water fish, you should be careful especially when purchased from stores. If they are not handled correctly all the way from catching, processing, and to the store shelves, they can be contaminated.

Never eat raw fresh water fish, no matter how clean the water seems. Only seafoods are used for Sashimi or Sushi.

It may have bacteria and parasites. Also I bet it tastes nasty raw. I eat everything cooked well done!
