I've got the 2001 1.3i model. Great car, no problems to speak of. you should never take a chance if you think your brakes are dodgy, see your mechanic. As for the indicators, blame the Koreans!!! They must prefer it that way, its a nuisance at first but you'll get used to it. Good luck and safe motoring.

The car is probably used and at least 5 year old?
The thing with the indicators... well... if you can't get used to it, get another car.
The brakes however, there could be a number of reasons for that.
1. The main break pump isn't working as it should.
2. You don't have enough brake fluid on the system (this one you can easily do your self).
3. There is blockage or leaking in the brake lines.
4. The brake calipers are stiff, rusty or very dirty
5. Brake pads might be worn and/or greasy or dirty
6. Brake disks might be worn and/or greasy or dirty

Whatever it is - it needs fixing before it kills you or a pedestrian.

Get this around to a reliable mechanic. The brakes have fault. A dangerous fault. I have driven one of these cars, if you put your foot down that hard it would leave tyre marks on the road.

if it takes that much effort to stop, i would have the vacuum brake booster checked out. this little piece sits behind the master cylinder, and helps you push the brakes, normally. my grandfather loves his Hyundai, heck the two times i drove it, i was a little impressed.

Never had one personally but it sounds to me like you either need new brakes or they need bleeding? as if your pushing your foot down that hard you should stop with skid marks smoking behind you?

get it checked an be quick
