The problem is that the Vatican won't open up all of Pius XII's archives to the public, so we can't know everything. The Vatican has done a lot of harm in regards to the Holocaust, both by being apathetic while it was happening, and by helping Nazis escape to South America following the war. While Pope John Paul II was a good man who did help Jews during the war, the Vatican seems to gloss over their own faults. They can't admit that they were wrong.

No objective scholar can seriously deny that Pius XII was at least sympathetic to the ideals of the Nazi's and other Catholic mass murderers such as Mussolini and Franco, at worst, had an active hand in their collaboration.
One particular historic event, which cannot be denied even by the most persuasive of Catholic apologists is the event in 1943 of the clearing of the Jewish ghetto of over 1,000 souls next to Vatican City.
So sensitive were the Germans to such a direct "cleansing" right next door to the home of Pope Pius, that the German ambassador is recorded as pleading on behalf of Adolf Hitler for the Pope to make some kind of negative comment- proving he was against the deportation.
It is recorded as the most extraordinary diplomatic gesture of World War II- a free hit, whereby the Pope could have said anything he wanted with full diplomatic knowledge that Hitler himself had permitted a response. Instead, the pontiff said nothing and all but a dozen were murdered.
To this very day 2007, the Vatican refuses to comment on this crime against humanity within the shadow of St Peter.s To this day, no pontiff has ever apologised to the less than 15 survivors, nor even shown the human decency to meet them.
The stock standard answer tosuch irrefutable proof is to deny- deny it ever happened, if pushed to say it was only a few dozen persons, if pushed hard use other less credible sources to counter the facts, if finally pushed into the corner- attack the answerer and seek to have it removed.

It is not a cover up. It is a frame up.
No serious scholar contests the evidence that Pius XII took direct and indirect measures to save Jews from the Nazi death machine.
The Soviet Union tried to convince the world that the Catholic Church was pro-Nazi since the death of Pope Pius in 1958. Here are some sources:

At the start of World War II, Pope Pius XII’s first encyclical was so anti-Hitler that the Royal Air Force and the French air force dropped 88,000 copies of it over Germany.

there are no statements by Pope Pius XII referred to in the article.
The Vatican is not trying to deny or cover anything up. But the Vatican wants a balanced historical understanding of what happened, rather than just accepting some on-line news article they manage to find.

there is sufficient evidence in the hot testomony that Peter become first in authority between the apostles. each and every time they have been named, Peter headed the checklist (Matt. 10:a million-4, Mark 3:sixteen-19, Luke 6:14-sixteen, Acts a million:13); each so often the apostles have been spoke of as "Peter and people who have been with him" (Luke 9:32). Peter become the guy who frequently spoke for the apostles (Matt. 18:21, Mark 8:29, Luke 12:40-one, John 6:sixty 8-sixty 9), and he figured in lots of the main dramatic scenes (Matt. 14:28-32, Matt. 17:24-27, Mark 10:23-28). On Pentecost it become Peter who first preached to the crowds (Acts 2:14-40), and he worked the 1st healing in the Church age (Acts 3:6-7). it rather is Peter’s faith which will enhance his brethren (Luke 22:32) and Peter is given Christ’s flock to shepherd (John 21:17). An angel become sent to announce the resurrection to Peter (Mark sixteen:7), and the risen Christ first appeared to Peter (Luke 24:34). He headed the assembly that elected Matthias to swap Judas (Acts a million:13-26), and he gained the 1st converts (Acts 2:40-one). He inflicted the 1st punishment (Acts 5:a million-11), and excommunicated the 1st heretic (Acts 8:18-23). He led the 1st council in Jerusalem (Acts 15), and introduced the 1st dogmatic determination (Acts 15:7-11). It become to Peter that the revelation got here that Gentiles have been to be baptised and time-honored as Christians (Acts 10:40 six-40 8). we are in a position to all argue semantics while it suits us yet as a count of reality nonetheless that the church is a residing respiration organism and has developed continuously from that first day of Pentecost, this assumes rightly that doctrines or perhaps multiple titles ought to additionally be section and parcel of this dynamic strengthen it is the single Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. God bless.

I will never understand how so many people believe all the propaganda coming out of our mainstream ministry of propaganda media. It seem that their function is to spread hatred. If they are not attacking Muslims, they are attacking Christians, particularly Catholics.
They have rewritten history and made a saint out of Martin Luther King. They have convinced millions of Americans how the late Senator Joe MacCarthy was the Anti-Christ (even coining the term mccarthism to describe someone who falsely accuses someone. That term would fit FDR much more better. He called anyone who opposed his push to get us into WW 2 a pro-Nazi).
Millions of Americans are running around like Chicken Little, worrying about "Global Warming". Why are you people so gullible? Why do you believe professional liars?
Mainstream media are composed of professional liars. They get paid to lie. You all need to be a little more skeptical.

I read the news item before answering your question. I think it is premature at this time to make any conclusions.
It should be noted that Pope John Paul II apologised to the Jewish people regarding the Church's neutrality on the issue.
Peace and every blessing!

If you look at the history of the Papacy you'd be shocked by that alone! There have been many scoundrels in the office of pope! (not all).
This is sad, very sad. It's almost as bad as muslims who deny the Holocaust never happened!!!

--IF IN FACT they are doing it , YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY right it is another cover-up:
--PLEASE NOT SOME FACTS:

Did the Vatican Know?
The Italian daily Corriere della Sera recently addressed the question of whether the Vatican was aware of the Nazi Holocaust while it was in progress. The article lists many authoritative eyewitnesses who reported on the genocide of the Jews and others directly to the Vatican. For instance, one chaplain who had been on a hospital train “tearfully told the pope: ‘The slaughter of the handicapped and of Jews continues. The poor Jews do not even have ration cards to buy food with, so that they die of hunger.’” Among those listed by the article as having informed the Vatican of the Holocaust were: the apostolic delegate from Berlin, the archbishops of Münster and Vienna, the papal ambassador to the German command, and the Reich’s ambassador to the Holy See. The article’s conclusion? “The Vatican knew.”

“Great Moral Failures in History”
“The record of the Vatican in relationship to the Holocaust is one of the great moral failures in history—one from which the Catholic Church itself has yet to recover,” writes columnist James Carroll in The Boston Globe. To back up his point, he lists the following historical data: “1929—The Lateran Pacts between Mussolini and Pius XI give the Vatican freedom and money, and they give needed prestige to Mussolini. [1933]—The Vatican signs a Concordat with Hitler, his first international success. . . . 1935—Mussolini invades Abyssinia. Catholic bishops bless Italian troops . . . 1939—Mussolini decrees an end to the rights of Jews in Italy. The pope says nothing. . . . 1942—The pope receives reports from Italian army chaplains about the extermination of the Jews. In his Christmas message, he bemoans the fate of ‘unfortunate people’ killed because of their race, but he does not mention Hitler, Germany or the death camps. Once again, the word ‘Jew’ is not used. . . . 1943—Germans begin to round up Jews in Italy, even in Rome near the Vatican. The pope is still silent.”
Catholic Church to Repent?
In a letter sent to Catholic cardinals, Pope John Paul II has exhorted the church to recognize the errors committed “by its men, in its name” and to repent of them. The pope admits that “coercive methods, prejudicial to human rights” used by the church “were then applied by the totalitarian ideologies of the 20th century,” says La Repubblica of Rome. But of what does the Catholic Church need to repent? “Of many things,” confesses Vatican commentator Marco Politi. “Of witch-hunts, of sending heretics to be burned at the stake, of the scientists and freethinkers who were threatened with torture, of the support of Fascist regimes, of the massacres carried out in the New World under the symbol of the Cross,” not to mention “of considering herself the perfect society, trustee of absolute power over consciences,” and “of believing, at a certain point in history, that the pope really was the vicar of Christ—a theological blasphemy.”
