I do not know if this fits as amazing but did you know that Ian Fleming (of James Bond fame) wrote Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?
A chicken lived for 18 months after its head got cut off! It was in the 1940s and was fed through a dropper! Do look at the below website - I must admit that I found it fascinating (and true!)

It's not that amazing but i never knew it. When chickens have their heads cut off, their bodies run around for a few minutes afterwards. Also, turkeys sometimes drown because they don't close their beaks in the rain!!! Sounds crazy but it's true!!
